Guest guest
I had California state disability for Lyme (with my doctor’s emphasis on the symptoms), which lasted for a year. I applied for federal disability a year ago and they denied me twice, and now it’s at the appeal level again with court appearance (which is actually a good thing). I decided to hire a lawyer who takes fees only if the case is settled, so there is no out-of-pocket money. The good news is that when they finally do approve your federal disability, you get it retroactive to when it was needed. So you can get a large lump sum. I’ve heard it can take up to 3 years to get federal disability, but I’ve also heard that some people got it sooner than later. There’s just no telling. A good LLMD will know which codes to use for insurance and disability purposes. I’d like to hear the stories of others, too.
