I was just recently diag. with as my dr. says is possible fibro. He wont commit to a true diag.- allthough all the signs and symptoms match perfectly and he has placed me on Lyrica - which has been a moderate help so far.[only been on for a little over a month] My family dr says the foot pain, ect. may be fibro or could be neuoropathy. Ask your dr about the neuropathy - the Lyrica helps the nerve pain but Neurontin does also.Bone spurs can also cause severve foot pain - I have heard alot of heal pain with this though. I started reading up on Foot Reflexogy and the pain area would usually correspond to the area in my body that happened to be in pain that day (at least 90% of time). I started getting foot reflexology massages and in addition to feeling more relaxed, it would also relieve the pains both in my feet and the corresponding area of my body. At first, I thought it was strictly coincidental, but even when I wouldn't mention any particular area to the massage therapist, they would locate it and tell me they could feel a " problem " . Reflexology is an Eastern practice, based on the theory that your entire body has a corresponding spot on your feet and hands (although hand reflexology did not work as well for me). Because fibromyalgia is at least part a neurological condition, it would be logical that we could have neuropathic pain. My foot doc clued me in there is another kind of neuropathy (he's sure it isn't "new" but they just discovered the link) that involves the nerves closest to the skin. It preceeds prediabetes. I was diagnosed with it in February (although I had it before) and my blood sugar didn't show any signs of prediabetes until this past Nov. It's now being controlled by diet and medication (the prediabetes), am hoping to go off the medication soon. I have just been placed on Lyrica 150mg for 2 weeks, then I get bumped up to 300mg after another 3 days...so far not much relief from my Fibro symptoms. My Rheumatologist gave me a shot of Marcaine in my heel, and it was amazing and my heel was pain free for about 2 weeks. Some get relief for up to 2-3 months. He said it was Plantar Flacitis (sp?) and that I needed to have that "broken up" in my heel. Luckily my husband is a PTA, but anyone can be taught how to break that stuff up in your foot/heel. It hurts at the time, but it does make a difference if you can tolerate it. Also, arch supports (the cheap ones are just as good) help out a lot because I guess we Fibro patients tend to put our weight on our heels as opposed to the balls of our feet. It made mine go away but only for about 6 months, but it hasn't come back near as bad as it was before the surgery. I work at Half Price Books and am on my feet all day long...it is worse if I sit down and get back up...can barely walk. Anyone experience this? Maybe it's not Lyme, but Fibromyalgia?
