Guest guest
Does this mean we should not go for the porphyrin test as done by great plains labs.? They have just sent me a box to do the test but if it is not as good as the french labs I will hold off? Guest guest
I don't know which test is BETTER per se- only that people say that the LABCORP test holds up better in court in the U.S.. But the Philippe Auguste test was the easiest home test we've ever performed. The results are beautifully presented and relatively easy to interpret if you use Dr. King's site and read the Nataff papers. The French lab will send you hard copies as well as emailed reports. > > > >hi... Guest guest
Lyme causes tinnitus when it infects the auditory nerves. I used to have wicked tinnitus; it cleared up (along with the sinus infection I'd had for 20 years) within the first three months of Lyme treatment. Guest guest
Ooo. Excellent suggestion. I'd totally spaced that, but yeah, neti pots are great for this. The flushing through the nasal passages creates a venturi effect that gently draws crud out of the eustachian tubes as well over time. (You need to do it daily for a couple weeks before it's really noticeable.) This can really de-gummify the middle ear, which can in turn relieve inflammation and pressure and thus calm the tinnitus. I'd add the further recommendation that you use water as hot as you can stand it. 104 degrees or so -- hot like a hot bath -- is hot enough. The heat increases the draw-out effect, melts the snot, adds humidity to the airways, and generally makes the whole process work better on the ear passages. Guest guest
Like you, I found it incredibly useful for managing chronic ear and sinus symptoms through those long undiagnosed years. It was really wonderful that those symptoms were among the very first things to clear up when I went on abx. But I still keep mine on the deck around the bathtub, and use it whenever I take a hot bath. Guest guest
Thanks to all....I have had tinnitus for 2 or more years with lyme and it now seems to be only in the right ear....my 17 yr old daughter has been ill from 15yoa so I have spent all my time researching for her symptoms and not the symptoms of the rest of the family....father-in-law is getting alzheimers, husband has had it most of his life...so he has many many symptoms....and my mother-in-law and myself have swollen knees.....there is just so much to learn and research....it never ends....Oreganol and abx have helped the tinnitus....Regards, Dolores > > > Help me out - a lot of you guys are very knowledgeable about nutrition and > alternative medicine. > > Know what to do for *tinnitus*? > > Since Tuesday, I've alternated between regular ringing in both ears and > pulsing, higher-pitched noise in my right ear only. Guest guest
Are you taking antibiotics right now? Tinnitus is also the side effect of some antibiotics, including doxycycline, which I know is often prescribed for Lyme disease. As far as I know, it goes away when you stop taking the medication; it did for my husband. Guest guest
I started on amoxicillin, zithro, and Flagyl. The trio started working in my head first -- the very first symptom was my nose opening like a tap and running clear for about three weeks. (It was truly remarkable -- like hay fever, but with many times the output.) After that, I felt a lot of clearing in my brain behind my eyes; and that was followed by righteous brain burn as my meninges cleared out. That started at the front of my head, and worked its way right over the top down to the base of my skull. From there, it was onward down to my arms and lungs. Yes, it was weird to actually " feel " the drugs working this way. That whole head-clearing experience lasted most of two months. Somewhere in the middle -- around the time my sinus infections really cleared up -- the ear-ringing just stopped. I've only had it once or twice since, and that's when I was having allergic reactions to mold. Aha. I think I just hit on a suggestion. Have you been checked out for mold allergies? I just got back from a 9-day trip to DC/Virginia/land, and every wood-frame building I stayed in triggered some kind of a reaction. These can absolutely cause ear-ringing. Google " Dr. Rich Shoemaker " for the full skinny on mold. Mold leaves body toxins that create a lot of Lyme-like symptoms -- and can also interact in a nasty way with actual cases of Lyme. And it's a problem in many of the same areas of the east coast where Lyme is endemic. Guest guest
Thanks Sara for the meds used....if you tell me the dosages I can try the same things since I have been on zithro and a bit of flagyl...and now have tindamax...but have never used amoxycillin.... I realized I had mold problems 16 years ago but did not know anything about lyme at that time...and now I wish I didn't have to know anything about it....so mold is a huge problem for me but with abx my sensitivity to mold is getting better.....Lots of lymies have mold issues and multiple chemical sensitivity....I am allergic to newsprint, paint, perfumes etc etc...  I have Dr. Shoemaker's book and just need some time to read it....There are 6 of us with lyme...my daughter, husband, myself, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Each of us has different symptoms and we live in the US and Sweden so we have many types of Borrelia and lots of co-infections...We would be an interesting family for a study....Regards and thanks for all your great help on this site..Dolores >>>> >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> Help me out - a lot of you guys are very knowledgeable about nutrition >>> and >>>>> alternative medicine. >>>>> >>>>> Know what to do for *tinnitus*? >>>>> >>>>> Since Tuesday, I've alternated between regular ringing in both ears and >>>>> pulsing, higher-pitched noise in my right ear only. Guest guest
I'm about ready to get serious about mold treatment. I've been taking issues one at a time, and it's time for this one. Waking up so many mornings last week with with my face all swollen up and numb from the histamine was really unpleasant, and I've had a huge surge of arthritis symptoms since then. The past few days, I can't move any of my large joints without screaming. It's really frustrating, given nearly two years of Lyme treatment during which I got *soooo* much better. I'd really hoped I'd never hurt this much again -- but here I am, living on codeine and morphine to manage it. So -- time to pull out Shoemaker's book and pursue this. I know my LLMD knows about this stuff and treats with cholestyramine, which last I heard was the first-line drug for this.... Each of us has different symptoms and we live in the US and Sweden so we have many types of Borrelia and lots of co-infections...We would be an interesting family for a study....Regards and thanks for all your great help on this site..Dolores > > >>>>> >>>>>> >>>>>> >>>>>> Help me out - a lot of you guys are very knowledgeable about nutrition >>>> and >>>>>> alternative medicine. >>>>>> >>>>>> Know what to do for *tinnitus*? >>>>>> >>>>>> Since Tuesday, I've alternated between regular ringing in both ears and >>>>>> pulsing, higher-pitched noise in my right ear only.
