I'm New - Again

Hi All:

I am new, again, as I said. I was here several months ago but haven't been on

the boards because I have been so sick and suspended my account so I had

to start over.

I had a severe Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. My LLMD finally suspended my

treatments for almost 6 months so I could recover, which I slowly did. I am now

back in treatment and all is doing much better. She changed my meds but I don't

know if that is the reason I am doing better or not. I do know that I am not

throwing up this time. So let me tell you a little about my story. . .

I appears I was bitten in Northern California (Santa Cruz area), in the fall of

1980. I came down with symptoms very similiar to Mono or a very bad flu and my

doctor treated as if I had Mono. He gave me a 2 week course of antibiotics and

I got better but after the antibiotics ended I got sick again and stayed sick,

off and on, for 30 years. I have been diagnosed with various things such as

Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, Epstien Barr Syndrom, Chronic Fatigue, etc, etc,

etc.

I found out I had Lyme when a friend of my mom's called her and in the course of

their conversation, my mom's friend said she had to get off the phone because

her daughter had started her first course of antibiotics for Lyme and she wanted

to know how she was. My mom asked what Lyme was and what the symptoms were.

When her friend started listing the symptoms my mom almost dropped the phone

because the symptoms were so similiar to what I had been suffering for so long.

Then her friend told her that her daughter had gotten it at the very same

boarding school I had gone to. And there were more people who had also attended

the school who had Lyme. My mom immediately called me and my husband and I

began researching Lyme.

Finding a doctor proved problematic, as it has for so many. But I did find a

great doctor in the S. California area and have a great rapport with her.

As I said above, I am back in treatment after a hiatus but seem to be doing

better with the medication symptoms and the symptoms that always seem to get

worse with treatment. I don't want to push anything but I have found something

and suffering this disease causes. I have suffered for 30 years without ever

having an answer and when the answer did come, it wasn't helpful. I still

suffered and sometimes worse than when I wasen't in treatment. So I know.
