Guest guest
Welcome to menopause!!! LOL Seriously I'm no doctor but it sure sounds hormonal to me. Cheri Dr R 10.26.05 -- hot flashes I had my surgery 7 months ago. I am 47 years old. I have been experiencing hot flashes, or what I guess is a hot flash. I can be freezing cold, then about 5 seconds later be burning up. I have actually taken my temperature and it will go up anywhere from 1 to 1.5 degrees. Is this a normal hot flash or is this something to be concerned about?
Guest guest
---I know that fats > increase estrogen production. Hi, is that a fact that increased fat produces estrogen? i have a similar situation with hot flashes increasing since i began the diet. thanks, marei __________________________________________________
Guest guest
By golly, yes! I never thought about this before, but yes my hot flashes have returned since i started the diet and have been alot worse. I had my mammogram done recently and the doctor told me that I have an overproduction of estrogen in my system for my age. I have calcifications of the breast and had to have a biopsy in the past. Now they are increasing. My estrogen levels should be lower at my age (54). I've been having some breast pain and hot flashes. Funny, when I used to eat a high sugar diet I got hot flashes. Now I cut that and the hot flashes have increased with the good fats increased. Is this a down side? I keep getting the warnings about staying low fat for my diabetes from my doctor. I really don't believe that one though. Val Deb Comcast <deborah.harper@...> wrote: I noticed since I have been on this diet that my hot flashes have increased 10 fold. WOW. is this actually true bee? is it possible that this diet can contribute to an over production of estrogen? i have my concerns about this because my dr told me i have high estrogen for my age also. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
>> Hi, is that a fact that increased fat produces estrogen? > i have a similar situation with hot flashes increasing > since i began the diet. > ==>Hi marei. Hot flashes are not caused by too much estrogen, they are caused by too little and also by low adrenals. See the Adrenal article in our Treatments Folder. Would you please put your name at the end of your messages, mainly for Maddalena, our blind member? Thanks. ==>Your hormones are going to fluctuate a lot during natural healing, but this program does not contribute to increasing estrogen in the lung-run. It actually will level out estrogen production to where it should be, but it does takes time. This program also causes fluctuations in other hormones, like thyroid, where the thyroid may go from low to high, but eventually it will level out too. Guest guest
I believe when you are losing weight you get an increase of estrogen since it is stored in fat, along with other toxins. But this healing needs to be done. Guest guest
Hi Debby, Thanks for your reply on hot flashes and the other advice you gave me. Thanks to Bee also. I'm so sorry I cant reply to your messages promptly. I'm so busy right now with work and planning on a trip to see my daughter and her husband (the one who had the surgery for crohns). I gave them the suggestion you gave, Debby on garlic and vitamin C. He got so sick after sugery, we didn't think he'd make it. He's lost almost 40 lbs now and is having high fevers and night sweats and an overwhelming weakness. I need to get down to help them out for the holidays. Thanks for your help with your suggestions and ways you cope with food addictions also Debby. I'm having a rough time there, and give you so much credit for your strong will power and fighting spirit. You've really helped me along here. Anything you can add that can help me to help my daughter and son in law with their issues would be great. I have to figure out how I can cook for them and help him to put on some weight before he wastes away. Merry Christmas! Guest guest
I was going through a lot of hot flashes while on this diet too. I figured it was either because I was detoxing or maybe I was going through early menopause. The flashes were pretty extreme at times, I had to put the aircon on a lot even when it wasn't hot out, but I want to let you know they did settle down. The hot flashes went away and it wasn't menopause. Elyse
Guest guest
you are way way undertreated on thyroid hormone. you should investigate iodine and maybe get adrenal meds. Gracia Hot flashes now instead of chills... can't stand to go out in the heat.... is this a big deal? this is only at 45 mg of Armour..... the heat never bothered me before.. or could this be the ovarian cysts and hormones? m Isaiah 12:2, " See, God has come to save me. Guest guest
Hey Rhe, I'm in the same boat as you. I get horrible hot flashes that feel like my entire body is on fire (esp. my face), and I'M A MALE!!! What the heck?!? My problem is that I have Steroid Induced cea on my face, and ever since I've had that (7+yrs) I started getting hot flashes, along with flushes. I blush VERY easily which also sucks, but being on this diet for a month & a half has seemed to help a tiny bit- but I still get the vicious combo of flushing & hot flashes. I've been taking 800 E for probably a year now as well. Hopefully this diet will change these symptoms. :/ -- > Hi, Bee, > I am having a terrible time with hot flashes. There are many causes of hot flashes, not just menopause, and I believe the body has them for very good reasons. No, do not UP your vitamin E dose. Sorry, I know they are miserable since I had terrible ones. I was living with my friend and her husband, and she was sure I'd wear out my sweater since I put it on and took it off so often! LOL! I also used a hand-held battery run fan! Hang in there and let this run its course. Luv, Bee

Guest guest
Hi again, It's almost Christmas! Thanks for this answer. I'm very familiar with the sweater polka! My husband calls me his " hot babe. " (:>) I have been telling myself that as my body repairs its cells so the walls aren't rigid, my body will also be able to better regulate herself. I'm pretty sure the flashes are menopausal, as they started the morning after my hysterectomy. I also read somewhere on your site that the fat cells will begin compensating for the lost hormones? I just realized that for a couple of months, I would get severely chilled for a couple of minutes before a hot flash--freezing under the covers in the summer, then having to throw off the covers. But I don't have those chills any more, just the flashes. So that's progress! Some folks have likened the hot flashes to a niacin flush. But for me they are two very different things. The flashes are total body things, and I'm almost in a panic to throw off sweater or blankets. It's followed by breaking into a sweat. The flush is usually pleasant, and feels like a sunburn, on the surface of the skin, sometimes itchy. I can stay snuggled under a blanket. Our house has been cold recently, so I welcome the flushes, and sometimes even the flashes! Have a wonderful Christmas Day. I hope you will not even turn on your computer! love and hugs, Rhe > > Hi, Bee, > > > > I am having a terrible time with hot flashes. > > Can I try upping the vitamin E by 400's and see it that helps? > > Do you have any other suggestions? > > +++Hi Rhe. The hormones aren't lost, since the higher number of estrogen and progresterone are to prepare a woman's body for conception/birth. Since you can no longer become pregnant your body requires a lot less hormones. It definitely will help when your body's cells aren't rigid too. > > I just realized that for a couple of months, I would get severely > chilled for a couple of minutes before a hot flash--freezing under the covers in the summer, then having to throw off the covers. There are many reasons a person gets hot flashes, but most are caused by imbalances in hormones or nutrients. So hang in there; it will normalize eventually. Guest guest
Hey, I also have hot flashes & night sweats constantly, which is miserable!!! Earlier this year my doc treated for Babesia, which were beginning to help. BUT, after some medical complications with my kidneys, I had to get off all abx & quickly relapsed. However, my llmd referred me to another llmd in Missouri, who checked my blood hormone levels, ALL of which came back low. Now this was just in the past few weeks so I don't have the paper copy of the blood test back from MO yet. It should be coming in the mail any day now with my Rx for whatever hormones he's going to put me on, along with the babesia/ Lyme Treatment. My doc said it is very common for Lyme patients to have hormone problems. I'm only 29, so menopause is not a factor in my case. I hope this helps... You guys can email me if u have any questions.. I don't mind at all! God bless, Lori Sent from Lori's iPhone
