Guest guest
you need proper medical care. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://www.helpmythyroid.com Gracia Has anyone had good results taking cytomel only? I started out taking synthroid and only felt worse and gained more weight. I had to change endo's because mine moved out of state, I talked her into prescribing me something different, she prescribed Thyrolar 1. I felt quite a bit better on it and lost maybe 5 lbs. When I went to get it refilled a few weeks ago, you cannot get it right now, it is on backorder or something. My endo has put me on 25mg of cymotel daily now. I have been on it one week only and have gained 5 lbs. and I am having some headaches. Would like to hear from you. Thanks, Jackie ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Jackie, I am on Cytomel currently, though it's too soon to know if it will work for me. But different medications work for different people. Plus sometimes the problem is not so much the medication, but the amount. However, there are a lot of people (my thyroid doctor included) who consider it's important to take a medication with at least T4 and T3 in it, and possibly T2 and T1. Guest guest
I have consistantly noted whenever I get headaches, 2-4 grams of Vitamin C a day seems to remove it, coupled with Iodine, and I feel very good almost all the time. I don't fully understand what is going on, but without that base of Vitamin C all the time I do not feel very good. > > Has anyone had good results taking cytomel only? Guest guest
The site is called Anaboliczstore. There are a lot of sites out there for bodybuilding steriod suppliments and you must be careful. Make sure it is a sight that has you send the money Western Union or Moneygram...those are the safer, more legitamete ones. Biogenisi is an entirely different type of site and I have no proplem using a credit card with them for the Armour. Guest guest
HI Angie Remind me again. Did you get a diagnosis for hypothyroidism within the NHS or did you get this through a private consultation. How long have you been taking 25 mcgs L-thyroxine and what makes you think you need Cytomel? Have you had any recent thyroid function tests, i.e. TSH, Free T4, Free T3 and also antibody tests. If so, please post the results with the reference range, and if not, you should get these done before increasing your dose or before adding in Cytomel. You may not need extra T3, it could be your adrenals that is stopping your L-thyroxine from working, or you could have Candida - or there again, you might have low ferritin. You need to eliminate any of these to make sure it IS your thyroid hormone that needs titrating. Apologies if you have already told me this, but as you can see, this forum is so busy with so many messages and I do get confused at times. Luv - Sheila Can you tell me please if I have 25mcg of levo thyroxine then takecytomel (t3) how much should I start with and any recommended place tobuy, and if I cease the cytomel 4 weeks before next blood test wouldthis be about right so as not to interfere with my tsh test? Doesthis make sense? I need more than my levo thyroxine only dont want toupset the apple cart so to speak.ThanksAngie No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG. Guest guest
Hi angie, T3 ( cytomel) has a half life of only hours so will be out of the body entirely in 1-2 days it is T4 which has a long half life of 5-9 days- depending on who you read so would not be out of the body for 5 to 6 weeks. Guest guest
HI Angie I feel your frustration, but to be honestly, I think it is because you are ONLY on 25 mcgts L-thyroxine and this is such a teeny amount it is quite unlikely to be doing you any good whatsoever. Doctors usually recommend only 25 mcgs to get you started to make absolutely sure that your body can cope with it and your heart will not be affected, but you should make an appointment as soon as possible to see your doctor and get a full thyroid function blood test immediately. Only that way will he put up your L-thyroxine. You really are not giving your body a chance as it takes up to 6 weeks for all the thyroxine to be utilised by your body. The average dose of thyroxine for sufferers of hypothyroidism is around 125 to 150 mcgs daily - so you have some way to go yet. Your info. about Armour Thyroid is incorrect. Armour contains lots more than just T4 and T3 - it also contains the active hormones T2, T1 and calcitonin with probably other unspecified goodies. 1 grain (60 mgs) of Armour contains 38 mcgs T4 and 9 mcgs T3. Hope this helps Luv - Sheila Hi SheilaI know you have a lot of people that you help you are very patient.Well my TSH was 5.57 range 2-5 I believe they would not test my T3 but ferritin and adrenals fine but I am on nutri adrenal extra so they may have helped as for candida have been taking support for this and I think not too bad?Because endo nhs put me on such a low dose of levo thyroxine it is not helping much and dont see him for another 2 months so thought the idea of cytomel was a good one so I can drop off it just before I go then it wont interfere with my TSH results? I have been on this for nearlly 3 months. The Armour am I right in saying is something like 60% T4 40%T3 so using cytomel you have seperate control is that true? Thanks Angie .. Guest guest
Hi Angie, I really don’t think that T3 is such a good idea as you are only just starting your recovery from Hypo. Your Endo is taking things a bit slow- it is usual to retest and dose increase after 6 weeks.- suggest you go to your GP if you are feeling little improvement at this stage. Trying to replace thyroid hormones too fast can lead to all sort of unpleasant overdose ( hyper) type symptoms. Please try to be patient- I know we all want to feel better yesterday, but getting on the wrong side of a doc who may end up being a treasure isn’t the best idea. The time to look at T3 is when you have a low TSH ( below 1.0) and still feel hypo symptoms. Subject: RE: cytomel Hi Sheila I know you have a lot of people that you help you are very patient. Guest guest
Yes I hope I can Gail. I ordered some Cytomel from a UK source a couple of days ago and expect free delivery tomorrow. Email me offline and I will let you know when it arrives and the ordering details, it is so much cheaper than International Pharmacy. Thank you to the person who answered my S.O.S. by the way. Guest guest
That was intentional Lilers, I did not say because I am so limited in where I can buy T3 that I don't want to prejudice this in any way as you will appreciate. Give me a shout if you would like more info, my thinking is that it is probably not wise to say too much on a public forum. Guest guest
What was your FT4 like? Armour in enough dosage will bring up Free T3 too. I would rather do that. Also Vit A and Zinc will raise FT3 if you have enough FT4 to convert from. Low cortisol and DHEA signify adrenal fatigue. You need some adrenal support and possibly DHEA. Did they test Pregnenolone? You can help with that generally too. I am not keen on Cytomel as it is synthetic (chemical) form of T3. cytomel Going to the doctor today to review my labs. Only thing that was low was free T3, cortisol and DHEA levels. I have a feeling that he will put me on Cytomel. Is this the correct thing to do, if so what is in it all ingredients? ThanksDeb
Guest guest
Be careful. Cytomel is known to cause psychotic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Guest guest
>How people respond to different thyroid meds is variable. If you are just starting your journey I would be open minded. What works for one person may not work for another. Some people do fine on just T3 (cytomel). Others need a combo of T4 and T3, either natural or synthetic. Some people don't respond well to the fillers or added colors in the synthetic T4 meds. As you can see, it can involve a bit of experimentation. The important thing is to find a dr. that is willing to medicate and is open to all options. Deb > Going to the doctor today to review my labs. Guest guest
Why would t3 plummet with moringa and fenugreek if it aids in conversion of t4 to t3 - Cytomel Sent: Nov 16, 2009 11:49 AM Happy to report my doc's secretary relayed that my blood test shows T-3 is now at great level. Took cytomel 5 mcg for a few months. I dropped coconut oil, and continued taking Moringa tea and fenugreek, the latter two are said to affect women's conversion of T4 to T3, so my T3 plummeted more. So i was given the cytomel. I picked up taking vco again and only takes moringa tea occassionally. ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone out there is on cytomel, that is what my LLMD gave me, 10mc or mg tabs 2x a day, and my good friend told me that I can take more than that, but just wanted to hear thoughts of how to go about upping my dose by myself before I get in to see my doc again. I know this is not recommended to play around with meds, but from what I have learned this last 2 years, I don't really trust most doctors nowadays, anyways, just wondering what is a typical dose for a low end free t3. Both of my doctors said the dose I am on is very very low, and I am pretty sure a lot of my symptoms are from that as well.... Thank you so much Bridget
