Guest guest
Hi , I have Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella and had horrible rage and disabling anxiety. Xanax would help the anxiety, but only when I took it and it totally knocks me out so I couldn't take it often. My doctor had me start neurofeedback treatments. I cannot even begin to explain how much this has helped. It can be costly, but I think my insurance will cover it when all my fighting with them is said and done (i'm still fighting for their coverage of the lab tests that came back positive for babesia). For example, I LOVE snowboarding, but my anxiety got to a point in the beginning of January that I would get up to the top of the moutain and be so scared to go down. Even though if i just did it, I am good at it, and can get down the mountain without falling or hurting myself, i was practically paralyzed up at the top and had to literally force myself to go down. After about 5 treatments (once per week for a 30 minute treatment), I was tons better. I went to Colorado (much bigger mountains than I have here in Jersey/Vermont) and I loved it. I had no problem getting to the top and coming down. My husband has even expressed since I've started treatments that " OMG, i feel like I have a normal wife again " . I do not flip out as much or get so angry over everything. I'm able to take a breath and say " ok, not a big deal " . I also am finding that I am just much happier all around. I find myself genuinely laughing at things when I feel like before I was just going through the motions. I know part of the feeling better is the actual drug treatments for the three diseases too, but the neurofeedback has been wonderful. You may want to ask your doctor if he/she feels it might be an option for you. Good luck! > > I will be seeing my psychiatrist in two days. > > Any positive ratings on psychiatric meds for Lyme rage? > > I have it bad. involving some damage to apartment doors :-(. thankfully no > wall damage. > > Any bad experiences with psych drugs? they seem to have scary side effects > and warnings. > > I had no problems when my infections were being controlled, but with > inadequate babesia treatment I've gotten testy again. Guest guest
When the rage was at its worst, I found lithium orotate (available OTC and recommended in " The 10 Best Lyme Treatments " ) very useful. I've also mentioned (much too often) my success with DLPA in regulating dopamine deficiencies, which tend to leave me more depressed than raging. I've never used Rx psych meds other than seven months on Zoloft, which I didn't much care for (though it got me through a stressful season of life). That was 15 years ago. In the years since, I've used the two above plus SJW and 5-HTP (which are good OTC substitutes for SSRIs, without the side effects).
