Cindi -

I take 300mg/day and usually have one in the morning,

one at dinner, and one at bedtime. My doctor hasn't

told me to do anything different. I noticed herxing

at first but now I'm not having anyt symptoms - I've

been on it for about 4 months now.

Hi Judith -

My doctor checked the dosage with what she called a

Lyme expert from Connecticut (I don't have his name)

and his advice for her was 100 mg three times a day

for 8 weeks, which is what I have done. I haven't

seen any recommendations for higher dosages and I

believe this has worked for me to improve my symptoms.

How are you taking the 600mg doxy? 200mg three times a day? Do you take

other abx with it or just doxy? I was on 300mg doxy and 750mg Flagyl

and herxed like crazy for awhile. Now I am on both those plus 1000mg

Cipro and diflucan every third day.

I want to change since zithro is now cheap since it makes the arthritis

pain go away. Yet I still need to be on doxy as it is only thing to

treat RMSF. I have to get this RMSF under control because it is messing

with my platelets and hardly have any clotting ability. The cipro is

said to fight Bart and I show symptoms and rashes of Bart so feel like

that needs to be treated. But I can't take 5 meds at once. So trying to

figure if I should go on Zithro and Doxy along with the Flagyl and

Diflucan and just up the Doxy dosage and hope the Zith will attack the

Bart. Dr thinks I have Babs, but a strain that there is no test for as

night sweats are extreme. I can't afford Mepron. My llmd closed his

practice in neighboring state. I found a dr who will treat me but I am

expected to tell him what meds I need as he is still learning about

Lyme. Thing is I am in a dilemia as to what to ask for. Any suggestions?

my suggestion is to ask your doctor if you can take mino as this antibiotic

worked were doxy did not even in high dose...another is ketek that made me herx

like hell.... is there an llmd around your area?doxy in high dose must be

regulated by your doctor so he must do tests to see the level in the

blood...what is rmsf? is it autoimmune?if that is the case doxy or mino sounds

better but again ask your doctor about what to do..remeber we are not doctors

but have been there....
