Guest guest
Following antibiotic treatment, our dog developed some gastrointestinal syimptoms...the vet put him on a special low-residue food along with probiotics (special ones for dogs, I'm amazed.and out a bunch of $$) and he's fine now...if only I could say the same. susan _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ine Helfenstein Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 4:56 PM Subject: [ ] Re: If your has Lyme Doug, I wrote because of the TICK-L LIST. Because like us, dogs need more than 4 weeks, at least 5-or 6 weeks. I knew this about Lyme before *_I_* got it. Much to my sorrow, I didn't take a vet's treatment plan over a doctor's. I know next to nothing about dogs and candida, and canine stomach irritation. Your vet can advise about dosage, how to prevent stomach problems. Talk to dog people and see if the dosage the vets give is enough. Just make sure the vet knows to treat _longer_ than the length of the spirochete's life cycle (4 weeks). *_You_ *make sure to push the vet past that mark pref. 8 weeks. Remember you hired the vet, and can go to another vet for another opinion without telling the original vet. Call vets or friends in Conn. to get their vet's treatment protocols. It might just save your dog's life. If the dog isn't treated long enough, he may get sick again. That's when you throw a royal tantrum. As a matter of routine, many performance and show dogs get yogurt every day. If anyone is interested, write me and I'll give you a site that show how to simply and easily make quantities of yogurt for the price of milk. With an extremely short intestinal tract (6 ft), a dog can handle pathogens better than we can, like salmonella. Try feeding a few kernels of corn and see how quickly they appear at the other end!!! <wink> Any good antibiotic treatment will take this into account. All of us run to the vet whenever our animals are suddenly lame or very sick. Insist on a course of treatment immediately once other causes are ruled out. Don't wait for the tests and don't think the results are right. Besides the Advantix/frontline the dogs get, I'll spray Deep Woods bug spray on the back, neck and ankles. Just a touch. My dogs don't lick themselves and are 50 lb's or more. Don't know about the PrevetTicks collar in addition the FrontLine treatment. ine
