Dear Lizzie

very sensible and cogent post regarding the benefits of hot baths

which is a resource relatively universally available to most

sufferers, at least in N. America. I've recently started taking very

hot baths sometimes with epsom salt before bed and have found that it

helps me get through the night without being awakened by pain and

spasms.I will definitely check out the referenced article you cite.

A remarkable thing happened to me after my steam sauna last evening. I

went in pain free from the previous days saunas. I stayed in the sauna

for approx 25-30 minutes at 104 degrees. Immediately after I got out,

I developed muscle twitching in my legs and butt. (This happened the

previous day as well) An hour later I began to experience joint pain

in my knees, wrist, fingers and my back and legs started to hurt.

Another hour passed and my entire body ached, I was limping around and

I got the chills. This morning I could barely get out of bed. I am

herxing! I am sure of it. I feel like complete and total crud! The

pain has decreased, but the fatigue and the brain buzzing is off the

scale. I forced myself to get up because I slept 10 hours. I'm

encouraged!

One thing DR K did not mention was how often should we do this type

heat therapy and how long should we be in a sauna at 102-104 degrees.

Anyone know? Thanks

  • 2 months later...

mentioned heat therapy. I have been doing this for the 2 weeks a

month I am on abx, and it is really a powerful treatment. I am

currently pulsing 2 weeks minocycline with zithromax and heat therapy

in the evening, via steam or heat sauna, hot tub or bath. Temps of 102

can increase abx effectivness fourfold and temps of 104 can kill

bactaria. On the 2 weeks off I feel so good its amazing. I am taking

long walks on the beach and getting things accomplished. It feels like

I have a life again. I know most gyms have saunas and hot tubs, but a

hot bath will also work. I did hyperbaric oxygen for a month, but I

didn't realize at the time I had babesia. HBOT will not work if you

have babesia. Make sure to be tested for co-infections. Good luck---

I know a man who did get well doing HBO and he had babesia.

He was an engineer, built his own one-person unit and used it every day in

combination with antibiotics and got well.
