Guest guest
I don't think that a lumbar puncture/spinal tap is definitive for neuro Lyme; spirochetes are not always present in the spinal fluid so the results may be a 'false' negative. Lyme is clinical diagnosis for a good reason. Initially I consulted an ID doc who would not treat me unless I had a positive LP. I fired him. I think anyone who starts on a new antibiotic has to keep in mind that feeling lousy, nauseous etc may be an indication that the antibiotic is working. Feeling lousy could result from bug die-off and actually is a good thing!! I am constantly amazed at how many people post that they d/c these meds because they feel bad on them. Expecting that the abx will make you feel better seems misplaced to me. When I discontinue my abx/flagyl I start to feel BETTER - more alert, less woozy etc. I just started back on them today and already my head is feeling like it gained 50 pounds in the last two hours. Sometime in January I will be switching to Diflucan and another antibiotic; believe me, I expect to feel very crappy or worse! In the meantime, I am doing everything I can(afford) to shore up my immune system through supplements, diet, salt/c, etc and am considering RIFE if I can either build one or buy a used machine. Iam working at bringing as much ammo to bear on the bugs as I can tolerate! Diane
