Elaina,

My son, who is 20 now, also has chronic Lyme disease although he dragged

himself to school most of the time for his senior year.

He too had a headache that came every day but fluctuated some in how bad

it was. He had daily headaches for about 7 months. He was treated by his

regular doctor for " tension headaches " with amitriptyline which as a

by-product also helped him get to sleep at night since insomnia,

disrupted sleep was a major symptom. (I'm not necessarily recommending

that you should try this medication, just sharing his experience.)

Eventually his headaches did disappear and yours probably will too with

treatment.

I wish I had any advice for you about your schooling, but I can tell how

smart you are, so even if you miss some regular school, I would think

you could catch up pretty easily. If you home school, you might find out

that you're ahead of everyone else! :)

My three kids with Lyme are homeschooled. They love it!! A lot less

stress! They can take naps, work a lot on good days and work less on bad

days, work at their pace, go on field trips, learn what interests them,

etc. They have friends through various activities and our homeschool

group. My kids ar 16, 14, and 11 years old. Homeschooling works

exceptionally well for them. Perhaps it will work for you, too.

Take care,

ohh, i loved readin what you wrote because i understand soo much. i too have

severe insomnia issues and had to take amitryptaline for 4 years before the

headache 1 year ago, it helped me sleep until i was ill and then it just stopped

working. They did put me on it again to see if it would help headache wise, it

never did. I also live in a Lyme infested area......... NH! Lots of woods and

ticks!

I do believe it will go away, i have had it NO relief (not even at night) for 1

year now. its hard but im managing to hold it together.

I too belkive that i will probably be ahead in so many things if i homeschool.

As of next week i will start on a  online algebra course, and idk about the

rest, i can't get it online. i am into the 4th week of school, ium very sick,

severe vertigo from coming off the nuerontin and onto cat's claw..... and I have

hardly even been!!!

It was great to hear from you, i havn't come across too many ppl weith the

constan daily headache. Thanks for your time! TTYL

Elaina, you are doing so well! You should be proud of your ability to

" hold it together! " Many older than you could use you as an example.

I wish I had something to recommend all I can suggest is what you are

already doing - the conviction that you WILL beat it & be totally well

at some point. When I had Cdiff, another dreadful disease, I would talk

to the Cdiff in the car & tell it to get out of my body. I told it how

evil it was, that my body didn't want it there & that it needed to

leave & would leave with every breath I exhaled. I always had a good

feeling after that. We should do that with Lyme!

My brother lives in NH, just outside Hanover.

I also suffered from horrible headaches, and my Lyme Dr. had me try Topomax. I

now take 100 mg 2x day and most days I'm symptom free. I highly recommend it.

Elaina,

I am glad that you find homeschooling appealing. It can be confusing at

first. Homeschooling has really helped my kids with autism/Lyme. Here is a

link which can help you get started with homeschooling:

http://www.autism-in-the-christian-home.com/homeschooling-curriculum.html

.. I always like to talk about homeschooling, so please let me know if you

and your parents have any questions.

Take care,
