I went to the website for clinical studies and did a search on lyme:

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov

One of the studies is by the NIAID and is currently recruiting.

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT00028080

Below is a description of the study's purpose. Is anyone in this

group participating? They only accept people who fit the CDC

criteria for Lyme disease. It is being conducted by Tulane Univ. in

New Orleans, and by the NIH in Bethesda, MD.

The exclusion criteria includes: Post treatment Lyme disease

syndrome.

Do you think the study will be biased?

Study start: November 2001

Lyme disease is a multisystem illness caused by the spirochete

Borrelia burgdorferi and it is the most common vector-borne illness

in the United States. This protocol is designed to offer evaluation,

therapy and follow up to patients with Lyme disease. This is a

natural history study, which has the objective of developing a

rigorously defined population of patients with Lyme disease to serve

as the basis of research in multiple aspects of the infection. These

research sub-projects have emphasis in exploring the biological

markers of Borrelia infections, assessment of clinical course and

outcomes of patients with Lyme infection, and the immunological

response to B. burgdorferi infection.

Be well,

Connie
