Guest guest
beachlymie, you might still want to check out lymenet.org and click on their flash discussion and so a search for alinia. like i said before, the people on that site are very knowledgable on all of the drugs prescribed for lyme and its co-infections. i checked yesterday and there are several posts about the drug. it seems some llmd's are using it as a cyst buster but always along with antibiotics to kill the actual lyme once the alinia breaks up the cyst forms. from all i have read in the last 6 months, and i spend a couple of hours a day at this, the antiparasitics are prescribed for babesia co-infections. maybe your dr thinks you are symptomatic for babesia too and that is why you are on it. i don't know. and, being as how most people are on alinia along with 1, 2 or more antibiotics, like me, for long periods of time, i don't know how likely you will find that one person who will be able to step forward and say that " i took an antiparasitic alone for a bacterial infection and i am 100% cured " i have been on alinia since september and i haven't eradicated lyme but I know it is working on my babesia. were you recently infected and quickly diagnosed? i hope so. that is your best bet for " eradicating " as you say, the lyme. once the lyme sets up household in your system it is usually a matter of killing as much off as you can and beating it into submission and remission. i have had lyme and 2 co-infections for about 15 years and was just diagnosed this fall. the way my dr explained it is everywhere in my body. we know it has attacked my brain, cns, liver, heart, the list goes on and remember it lives inside your own cells. so, to completely eradicate it/lyme they would have to kill every cell in my body. because if there is just one cell left it will start to replicate again, given the right environment. i'm happy to stop somewhere short of that <giggle>, forgo the funeral and maybe not be 85% better and alive. be patient. work with your llmd. alinia is super expensive so there must be some reasoning behind his/m/her prescribing it. ask this question again on the lymenet.org forum and ask your dr. before you give up on it. deb [ ] Any anti parasital drug cured lyme? > >I previously asked whether alinia eradicated lyme. Guest guest
Deb, thanks for responding. Alinia is cheap in Mexico. Alinia was sold in Mexico for years. I think the patent may have expired. Alnia is called Daxon in Mexico. 42 tablets 500 mg $133. The cost of roundtrip airfare, a hostel and Daxon is equivalent to purchasing Alinia in USA. I arrived over a week ago to Tijuana. However, the weather has been cloudy. Haven´t produced adequate vitamin D yet from sunbathing. Windy and chilly at beach. I tested negative for babesia. I have heard that Alinia is being prescribed by llmds solely to eradicate lyme. However, I heard llmds are not prescribing it for months. You have been on it since September. It is now February. Isn´t that long enough to eradicate lyme. How long are you going to stay on it. Has your CD57 improved. The mexican computers have different keyboards. the question mark isn´t working. What antibiotic is usually prescribed with Alinia. Other side effects I experienced from Alinia is swelling of thighs, legs and abdomen, weight gain, fatigue and over sleeping. I was bit by a tick in 2003. Argentyn 23 IVs and herbs didn´t eradicate lyme. I haven´t had time and internet access to go to lymenet.org. I will follow through with your suggestion later.
