Guest guest
, took Clonidine for about 5 years to help with self-stim behaviors. It did help calm him down some, but when taking the pill form, we noticed a lot of " peaks " and " troughs " in the medication effectiveness. We eventually switched to the Catapres Patch with more constant results. As he grew, we had to increase the size of the patch. A couple of years ago, started to take Risperdal and the docs wanted us to wean him off the Catapres (clonidine) because one of the side-effects of Risperdal can be lower blood pressure. (FYI: Clonidine is actually a drug to control blood pressure and has been known to effect behavior.) We had trouble getting him off the Catapres because his system had developed a dependence on the Catapres to control his blood pressure; so he had " rebound " high blood pressure. We tapered the doses over a long period of time and eventually got him off of it. I still think it's a good drug for out of control self-stim behaviors. Hope this helps. Guest guest
we had bad results with clonidine, it made nathan very aggressive, remember if the child does need to go off it to go slowly not cold turkey, it could hurt him. shawna. Question again? > Forgive me for asking this question again. I don't mean to continue to discussion about meds but, once again, is there anyone who's child is taking clonidine that is getting good results? > > the parents of the child I work with said the doctors are increasing his medication to 3 times a day since what he takes now is only a 4 hour effect. although they are going to begin giving it to him the extra times while he is at home so he can be monitored for side effects. Guest guest
Basically it is taking orally large quantities of salt and vitamin C. There is a lot of information on my free lyme resource CD about this protocol and others that people have used. There is a very large group dedicated to the salt/c regimen. www.lyme-resource.com You can lead a person to a fact, but you can't make them think! - > Re: [ ] question again? > > what is salt/c and how do you do it? >
