Guest guest
I am really confused and would so much appreciate input! I have Lyme Disease -Dx Aug. but EM rash was in 1989.As I am aware many out there can relate to this. I have been very sick but now on treatment... My 16 y/o son has been tested for LD using Labcorp draws. The results came back positive in only one area-WB IgM P39 Ab-Positive. All serum and other antibodies were neg. So....big ?// Does he have Lyme like me or??? I have read wher you can pass on in-utero but my dr. does not concur with that. My son has chronic immune disease(eosiniphilic esophagitis) and I just need to know what may or may not be going on. Thanks so much for helping a totally confused mom!!!! Guest guest
- I can not help you with your questions but - I contacted lyme in 1987 and I gave all my three girls lyme - it is true. I am the beginning of our treatment and know we have a long road but are so willing to travel it - good luck with your son and never stop pushing to find out. My heart goes out to you - Diane > > I am really confused and would so much appreciate input! > > I have Lyme Disease -Dx Aug. but EM rash was in 1989.As I am aware many > out there can relate to this. Guest guest
, Band 39 is a Lyme specific antibody - one of the most specific. My 3 kids have congenital Lyme causing Lyme-induced autism in 2 of them. So, yes, Lyme can cause some other illnesses. (I did not know I had Lyme when I was pregnant with them.) Guest guest
Thank you so much for reply. When you say lyme specific, I am a little confused(well, really alot:-) wht do you mean?? Is it that he does have it or do I need to pursue a lab like Igenix?? All of my labs were sent to Labcorp woth a positive on all criteria for CDC so I guess I was lucky in a way that i was so cut/dried for me but not the case for Chase. I was not aware I had it either when I became pregnant but do not agree that it can't be transmitted in-utero. i > I am really confused and would so much appreciate input! > > I have Lyme Disease -Dx Aug. but EM rash was in 1989.As I am aware many > out there can relate to this. I am convinced of ths after friend who has lyme and 12 y/o has tested positive and stories like yours. Guest guest
, I can not diagnose over the internet, but if it were me and I only had band 39 and I had typical Lyme symptoms, I would say that I did indeed have Lyme disease. I would suggest that you and he both see an LLMD. Good luck! On Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 9:55 PM, angela smith <akearsesmith@...>wrote: > Thank you so much for reply. Guest guest
hi everyone- reading these posts sparked my curiosity regarding my own 14year old son. He was born with severe foot deformities (surgery #6 upcoming this summer). He has already had cardiac catheter ablation procedure to correct tachycardia done at Children's hospital in san diego. He also has an enlarged aorta which we monitor with annual echoes. They found a number of cysts on the cerebellum which they say are asymptomatic so nothing has been done. His doctors say this is all connected somehow; that he has some sort of neuromuscular disorder so we did ALL the testing; they determined it is mitochondrial/metabolic in nature but have not been able to put a name on it. It looks like I have had LD (bitten during my childhood numerous times in Lyme, CT where I grew up) long before my son was born but was not diagnosed until 8 years ago. I went to my son's dr and he listened enough to order an ELISA on him which of course was negative. What can I do from here? I don't know what to think; whether or not LD could be the answer or not; nobody wants that diagnosis for their child but he has been tested for everything else (Children's Hospital said they have run out of tests and don't know what to think) Does anyone know if a test would show positive in a transplacental transmission? The information I have seen on congenital LD is very basic; does anyone know of any good articles/books on the subject? I would appreciate any input anyone would like to share. Thanks for your help and support. Robin > > From: dkbmama <dkbmama@...> > Subject: [ ] Re: Please help with results! Guest guest
You would still want to use the IGeneX Western Blot IgG and IGM Lyme labs for congenital cases. However, congenital cases are more likely to not show anything than non-congenital cases. My three kids did show positive Lyme-specific bands, though. So you really should try. Since you had Lyme when you were pregnant with your son, your son most likely does have congenital Lyme and his medical problems are most likely related to congenital Lyme. You really should see a LLMD as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment for your son.
