Guest guest
I had long term Lyme and went through two Rocephin (Ceftriaxone) treatments about a year apart. I still had neuro symptoms, most bothersome were balance and stamina problems. When I finally saw an LLMD, he diagnosed the residual problems as being Bartonella, for which I was successfully treated. Just thought you may want to have this checked. Guest guest
Hi, , I suspect I may have Bartonella. I am on doxycycline, which I know is used to treat bartonella in cats, and I do feel a whole lot better. But I think usually Levaquin is used for people? Can I ask what treatment you used, for how long? Many Thanks, D. avalonf@... wrote: I had long term Lyme and went through two Rocephin (Ceftriaxone) treatments about a year apart. Guest guest
Hi Michele I did 2 months of rocephin after 3 on doxy. I didn't really notice much improvement from the rocephin. I still had symptoms but lessened ones from when I started. I think my cognitive functionning improved a tad. I am back on abx after a month break because I started to really go downhill again. not sure of the reason even though I was bitten again but after a week on doxy, I'm feeling the best I ever felt in the last 8 months. Not sure where I'm going from here but am enjoying the experience of feeling better. as to my cognition or fognition, it seems to come and go. It is definitely very distressing in the mix symptoms. I try to work on it, to exercise my brain, in effect. I have started to learn touch typing after a lifetime of 2 fingers. I stress myself to come up with mental minutae on a pretty regular basis and I try to read and write regularly and extensively in an attempt to keep my verbal wheels greased.Remember that with aging, all functions decline. all we have is exercise and luck to keep ourselves in the game maximally. keep rowing, Michele ! mike > > Hi, everyone > > For those who have been treated with IV rocephin, what improvements > (if any) did you notice? > > Were the improvements cognitive? Guest guest
Michele, Rest assured many of us suffer cognitive deficits, though I can only speak for myself. My treatment was cefriaxone, not rocephin, but they're both frequent treatment choices. I did notice about 1/2-way through my 33 days that I had fewer headaches and that my inexplicable mood swings did seem to be better. However, my memory (especially verbal) and my ability to see an extremely obvious answer to a problem are seriously impaired. (If I walk away from a task, I often cannot figure out how I was doing it; people have to repeat phone numbers, etc. to me three or four times before I can write them down accurately; forgetting my shopping list, I go home to retrieve it rather than realize I could call and have my husband read it to me.) I am 6 years post-treatment. Though my swollen joints are no longer a problem I'm in moderately severe pain constantly. Where I used to be amongst the top 3% of students (and a pioneer TAG student), I am now considered by many to be an airhead or " ditzy " . There are many more problems I have, many cognitive, but I'm sure you didn't want a book for a response. Also, it's important to remember that like the length of time you have went untreated strongly affects the severity of your symptoms, it can also affect how fully or partially you can expect to recover. After this long, I'm pretty sure I'm as good as I'm going to get. If you talk to enough of us Lymies, you'll find that our recovery's " completeness " runs from one end of the spectrum to the other. Good luck to you, and never lose hope! - Oregon > > Hi, everyone > > For those who have been treated with IV rocephin, what improvements > (if any) did you notice? > > Were the improvements cognitive? Guest guest
It was indeed Levaquin for two months. DeMarco wrote: > > Hi, , > > I suspect I may have Bartonella. Guest guest
My mother has great difficulties with cognitive defects. She struggles to have a normal conversation, and cannot remember very simple words. She was treated with IV Abx 7 years ago, and her cognitive problems have worsened gradually. She will be seeing an LLMD for the first time in April who I hope can help her. Patti

I don't plan to settle for partial recovery myself and this approach is really helping me after unsuccessful use of other approaches. (see _http://members.aol.com/synergyhn/transcript_ (http://members.aol.com/synergyhn/transcript) for overview for laymen or go to _http://marshallprotocol.com_ (http://marshallprotocol.com) for free information and help with the protocol) Joyce In a message dated 11/30/2006 3:28:43 A.M.
