Guest guest
Hello all, I'm wondering what dose most LLMDs use when they are prescribing zithromycin for Lyme. I've been having intolerable reactions to abx for a long time now and, thus, have barely been treating Lyme for almost two years. Even though I've barely ever taken abx for anything but Lyme, I agreed to take zithromycin for a nasty sinus infection that's had me in bed on and off for three weeks. (I'm all too aware that part of this is Lyme as well.) The dosing for an upper respiratory infection is one dose of 500 mg. zithro on the first day and then one dose of 250 mg of the subsequent four days. I'm on day three and have not had the awful feelings I usually get on the Lyme doses of doxy, Biaxin, Flagyl. What can you tell me about using Zithro for Lyme, please? Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Deanna - I used Zithromax for about 4.5 months in combination therapy with Flagyl and Bicillin LA. The dose was 600mg and I took it 3 or 5 days per week (mostly it was 5 days per week during the 4.5 months). 600mg at one time got to be a bit much on an empty stomach, so my LLMD said I could split it in half and take half (300mg) in the morning and half in the evening. I think Zithro is good for the L-form of borrelia, but it can also hit bartonella and babesia. I hope that you have a good probiotic to take with any antibiotics that you use. I like the Theralac. Also, a yeast free, sugar free diet is a must or the candida will just take over and make your life miserable. Hang in there Robin > > Hello all, > > I'm wondering what dose most LLMDs use when they are prescribing zithromycin > for Lyme. > > I've been having intolerable reactions to abx for a long time now and, thus, > have barely been treating Lyme for almost two years. > > Even though I've barely ever taken abx for anything but Lyme, I agreed to > take zithromycin for a nasty sinus infection that's had me in bed on and off > for three weeks.
