Maykayla -

I have had MCS for over ten years. Really bad. I was tested as

allergic to every chemical and group. I have to wear a carbon mask

in any public place, except for a health food store.......which

normally doesn't have any harmful chemical smells, and most patrons

don't wear chemicals on them.

I use all natural products, personal, cleaning, etc. I cannot take

any prescribtion drugs or over the counter medicine. My husband and

I built our home four years ago, a beautiful three story home close

to the ocean. We used a lot of low chemical materials and did it as

green as possible. We have a lot of tile, and the carpeting is 100%

untreated wool, with a natural jute and hemp backing. It cost a

fortune, but should last longer than the house! I am allergic to

woods, so wood flooring which works for many MCS sufferers, was not

a good choice for me. We used zero VOC paint, and many safer options

in the building.

So, our house is perfect for me, which is huge to have a place you

sleep and live in, that won't contribute to your problem. We also

installed radiant wall heaters, because I am also very electrical

sensitive. I can only work on my lap top computer - and for some

reason, most lap tops bother me, so I feel blessed that ours seems

to be alright. But I do use a couple " diodes " on the screen - which

cuts down the emfs. If I use a regular computer, I get dizzy and my

fingers and arms start losing strength and coordination from the

emfs. We also don't have any florescent light fixtures in the house.

It is all about avoidance to what you cannot tolerate. One of the

worse things for me, is people's commercial laundry detergents and

dryer sheets. They can just knock me out. Or Glade brand " plug-ins " .

I have life threatening reactions to chemical exposures - such as my

heart and airways. My blood pressure drops, heart races, can't

breathe - and I start going into shock. The last time I had a really

bad episode, was in Walmart two years ago. This was even with my

mask on...............so I never go to the store any more. I also

was I believe, having a spring lyme flare-up - but didn't know yet,

that I had lyme disease at the time.

My life is very restricted because of the MCS - but I'm hoping once

the lyme infection is reduced, my MCS won't be as severe. And

eventually, I plan to be free of both of them. But I would never go

back to poor eating or using chemicals.

I also have used one of the little personal air suppliers that you

wear around your neck. Sharper Image and other companies make them.

They emit a small amount of ozone (which is controversial or thought

to be harmful) - although this is very small on the unit, and one

time I wore it on a plane trip, and it did really help me a lot.

If you have any questions that I might be able to help you with -

let me know. The company N.E.E.D.S. is a store, on line site and

catalog - which specializes in supplements and products for people

with MCS.

It's been difficult at times, but my MCS has given many people an

education and awareness that they wouldn't have had before meeting

me. I try to be very positive - and always leave a situation if I

know I will react, because it's not worth having a horrible

reaction. Most people do not take it personally, and understand how

bad it is for me.

I also monitor the activities in our town, as a public service - in

regards to the logging companies, when they spray and burn. That way

I can stay at home, and limit my exposure. I am a go between to

diseminate this info, and keep a web site for those that need to

find out what is happening. We have a lot of MCS people in the town

we live in.

My main doctor is an allergist, who treats me for MCS. The main

thing is to limit exposures, and keep your body alkaline. When you

have a chemical reaction, the blood goes acidic. I take " tri-salts "

immediately disolved in water, to alkalize my body - also Alka

Seltzer " Gold " tablets work, and are easy to carry with you. And

glutatione has been extremely helpful in a reaction, plus chlorella,

vitamin C and the herb khella, to help open my air ways and slow

down my heart.

Whew, long post. I apologize.......

I do pretty well working with it, and every one in my life knows

what to do or not to do - to help me out also.

Hope you are doing well these days! Nice to see a post from you.

Love,

Jnanda
