i dont think that one has to be sore in order to have gotten a good

workout. if you are fatiguing your muscles during the workout then that

should do the trick. having said that though, it is important that you

continue to increase the workload in order to progress. (heavier weights,

longer sets, more variety in exercises, etc)

Well, for instance when doing arms, I am lifting enough where I can barely complete the 12 sets... but yet, I am never sore the next day? When I used to do Tae-Bo, I woke up sore all the time, now I never do. I feel like I'm pushing myself hard, but maybe it's just not hard enough..hmm.... But, for what it's worth, I do feel like I'm getting a good workout cardio-wise. I am always wiped out afterwards.

Hi Darcy, I'm not an expert but maybe you should try changing the order or the exercises you are doing. You can even try to change the length of your exercise routine to see if you get different results.

About holding your breath underwater - I may be wrong but I think that it may be doing something for your heart and lungs. I think you would get a better workout by trying to swim laps. I'm not the best swimmer but I have been taking classes to improve my stroke techniques. I am beginning to be able to swim longer and that really is a total body workout. The so-called experts say that swimming is not as good as walking or running but I enjoy swimming so I try to swim and walk.

Thanks Jen for your thoughts :) I actually did strength training tonight prior to my cardio... and I was able to up my dumbbells a couple of pounds, we'll see what that does. It's not a big deal that I'm not waking up sore, but it does intrigue me.

On the swimming thing. I hope I didn't sound like I as just going to go sit underwater and hope my heart was getting exercise..LOL.. I was just wondering that the other day as I was swimming underwater if it was doing anything for my heart.... :)

On another note, what is a great strength-training workout for upper body or just arms that is like 30 minutes long??? I know Cathe has some awesome ones out there, but hers are so long and I don't have that time just yet, not if I want to get my cardio in as well. Anyway, does anyone have any great recommendations? I've been doing Corey Everson "get hard" forever it feels and I'm ready for another different one!

First, for those who don't know me, I am not a " diagnosed Lymie " , but

am 100% sure that is what I have. I have, however been diagnosed with

Fibromyalgia.

Currently I am trying to save the money to see Dr. B in NY, but for

now I am receiving no treatment, except for B-12 shots, because my b12

was found to be extremely low (150) at my last PCP visit.

That leads to my first question.... How many of you receive B-12

shots and do they help you?? Have you ever had any kind of weird

" after effects " ???

After my first shot 2 weeks ago, I actually felt a bit better for a

day or two, but then about a week afterwards, I had pain in my joints

like I have never, ever had before... It was excrutiating!!

I just had my 2nd shot yesterday morning. All was fine until last

nite... I had this weird, hard to describe feeling...like I was going

to pass out.

It passed after about a half-hour and I don't feel too bad today,

though I am still tired and groggy.

Could that have been from the shot?? Or just coincidence??

Secondly... If it is Lyme that is causing my Fibromyalgia as I

suspect, I figure I have had it since I was about 17 yrs old (I am 45

now) and would have had it when I was pregnant with both of my boys,

who are now 20 and 13...

My 13 yr old was bitten himself this summer and I fear that even if he

didn't get it from me, he may have gotten it then, because he does

show some signs...such as problems with his knees, some fatigue, sore

throats...

I have also noticed what look to be " Bartonella streaks?? " on him,

though they did look like stretch marks at first, but they are more

noticeable some days than others...

Now my oldest son, who is 20, has just come home from jail after 9 mos

and I saw him without a shirt for the first time since he went in..

To my horror, he also showed me what looked to be stretch marks on his

biceps... He HAS put on weight since being in there, going from 165

to 200 lbs, but I have to wonder.

I do not want to put " the fear " into either of them, so I have not

said anything, but I am afraid...

How can I expect to get them diagnosed, if I can't even afford to get

myself diagnosed yet??

How can you truly tell the difference between stretch marks and

Bartonella streaks??

Is there a way to get tested for Bartonella that can be done by a PCP,

without actually going to the LLMD yet??

I never heard this before. I'm interested in learning more. It works like an

abx or the Bruher protocol? By just taking L-Glutamine I can kill Lyme?

Thanks for the info on the L-Glutamine powder... I think I had

actually read about that somewhere else also, but can't remember where

right now.

I am aware what a Herx is, but I had no idea that getting B-12 shots

would cause one... Guess I just never thought about it, but now that

I think about it, I guess maybe it could, being that you are putting a

vital vitamin, that the Lyme has eradicated, back into your system.

All I know is that I got the shot, as I said, again on Wednesday, had

that episode that night, and now, on Friday, I hurt again sooooo bad

that could scream...

Every joint in my body is absolutely screaming with pain and even my

bones hurt, especially my shin bones and the arch of my right foot.

Maybe I will try the L-Glutamine, as you suggested, but I have been

leary of trying anything on my own, until I can get to Dr. B, because

of the Herx possibility.

Right now we have only one car and I am responsible for driving my b/f

back and forth to work, also because he doesn't have his license, and

I can not afford to be " down " to the point where I can't function at all.

script, I got the stuff at drug store and gave myself the shots in the thigh?at

first DAILY then cut back to weekly and now as needed, no less than monthly,

more as needed.... a shot like once a month to start with when you are so low is

NOT GOING TO DO IT.... I hope they also told you to take a good dose b12 pill

every day, even one in morn and one in eve to start... I was in bad shape so

when I started taking the shots I cannot tell you what symptoms were from what

BUT the low b12 makes me hurt everywhere... another thing to keep in mind is to

keep a balance of all vitamins and minerals.... so take a good daily vitamin

also.... often with low b12 comes low iron... low iron makes everything hurt

because your red blood cells will be diminished and the lack of red blood cells

means oxygen cannot be carried to the entire body properly...? besides shortness

of breath you would have muscle pains, and my main symptom related to low b12

and iron was deep BONE PAIN especially the leg bones... if felt like someone was

sucking out the insides of my bones.... did you have an iron test also?? Maybe

you should take an iron pill... cant hurt.

Any lab can take your blood for a lyme test... you can order one yourself or

have your pcp order one from IGENIX lab in california (they have website) you

Hello Jaye, yes by taking L-Glutamine you can kill Lyme bacteria, and I

believe the ones that are hideing in the cell membrains where regular abx

medicine can not reach them. Be cautious, however, as a terrible HERX can

occur so

start taking 1/2 teaspone and gradually increase it if you are able to

withstand the killing off of the bacteria. The bacteria will be killed all

over

your body so it can be quite uncomfortable. I had a great amount in my feet so

I had to run hot water on my feet to kill off more bacteria as it came close

to the surface to try to avoid the L-Glutamine.

I read about this treatment in a book by Knoll about 5 years ago. I

tried it then but would start to pass out from the Herx effect and quit. I

only started again in October late and am working with it now, I told my Lyme

LLMD about it and she apparantly knew something about it, but is strictly a

main stream medical person. She told me it could cause neurological reactions

and I believe it may have started after I had been taking it for about one

month. I have since stopped for a day or so to see if I can tolorate it enough

to cure myself of Lyme.

Thank you Sidney. I appreciate the info. I may try this in a coupe weeks after

I'm done with college finals. I hate to have a bad herx right now. I " m also very

overwhelmed right now to start one more thing at the moment. Just the fact that

I saw your email is a feat for me now adays. LOL

I'm currently on IV Cef for the past 5 months and a couple days ago started

Zithromax. I wish I could have taken the two together for the past 5 months but

that didn't happen. The IV doesn't seem to be doing much but I'm going to keep

it going for one more month. I'm hoping the two meds together will do something.

One more question...I looked up the L-Glutamine and saw it comes in 200 mg for

the powder form, I believe. What dosage bottle do you get? I did look in one of

our stores for it but it only came in pill form. Do you recommend the pill form

also? Oops, guess thats 2 questions.

Dear " c "

I had read somewhere about ppl giving themselves the shot and thought

that it might be easier than having to go to the doctor's all the time

for it, but my PCP is only an RPA and there are strict guidelines that

I have to follow to get Medicaid to cover, so I haven't said anything

to him..YET...might I still might.

And, no, he didn't say anything about taking a B12 supplement on my

own, but I intend to say something to him at my next visit.. Thanks.

Now, the multi-vitamin...I can handle...maybe!! LOL I will get some.

The pains you described in your legs...thats the one that I am dealing

with. I like the way you put it... The pains are in my lower leg

(shins) and it definitely does feel like " someone is sucking the

inside of the bone out " ... It is driving me absolutely crazy...

Thanks for the answer... At least I am pretty sure now that it IS the

B12 causing the new pain and not something new that has come up..
