So *that's* why my doctor had me take only 50 mg of the diflucan. He also told me to do the Buhner protocol. But I seemed to have a bit of a reaction to the sassafras and the angiographis (sp?) and possibly the resveratrol. So I stopped. Did you have any uncomfortable reactions? At least two of them (maybe all 3? ..i can't remember now) seemed to make my pulse stronger and give me a stressed feeling, like pressure or anxiety in my body. He said to stop for about four days then start again at half dose. That was two months ago and I just tried 1/2 capsule of the sassafras. Didn't have the immediate reaction as I did the first time. But then I felt ill from some foods I ate yesterday, I think, and decided not to take anymore today. I'd really like to know if anyone else is doing that protocol and having any positive results or uncomfortable reactions. Thanks, Deanna
Guest guest
Deanna...I started out on small amounts of herbs in the Buhner protocol, and worked my way up to the 50% mark, where I think I'll stay for 6 months. I think I began the protocol 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm currently taking: Cat's Claw - 1000 mg. 3 x daily Resveratrol - 20 mg. 3 x daily Andrographis - 800 mg. 3 x daily Sarsparilla - 850 mg. 3 x daily Astragalus - 470 mg. 2 x daily (for later stage Lyme, it sounds like we shouldn't take high doses of this) Plus, I'm also taking 2000 mg. Ceftin daily, and 300 mg. Doxy daily. Yes indeed, I've had major herx's from the abx and the core protocol. I also have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome), which was starting to go into remission, but the core protocol is reactivating it. I can live with that, because I definitely believe I'm going to feel much better when I come out the other side of this treatment. The core protocol is supposed to cross the blood-brain barrier, and kill these rotten spirochetes wherever they hide! The core protocol is supposed to work well alongside abx. I'm on an offensive to wipe out this Lyme mess, hopefully once and for all! One day at a time...Tom [ ] Re: Diflucan for Lyme Jessie MacMillan wrote: > I'm taking 50 mg a day. I'm not taking any abx. Guest guest
Maybe someone else can better explain this, but I think the best way to understand the 'core protocol' is to read the book: 'Healing Lyme' by Harrod Buhner Buhner gives in depth detail of each supplement / herb used for Lyme and it's various ailments. The book is easy to read and very well designed. There are summaries throughout for the various treatments. These supplements are powerful, and the patient needs to understand the possible drug interactions, etc. - all are clearly presented in the book...Tom Re: [ ] Re: Diflucan for Lyme In a message dated 11/29/2005 5:06:39 P.M. Guest guest
This was interesting to me as I'd taken Doxy, with Nystatin (for yeast). THen I felt that I could possibly have systemic and our LLMD gave me the Rx for the Diflucan. So i'm taking that plus the Ceftin- today again the ball of my foot bothered, as did my back and neck- believe this plus emotional roller coaster is my herx, but I can't seem to find the rhythm of a specific number of days to it. Hope I'm killing the little buggers. I am feeling better physically and emotionally tho. Is the info about Diflucan written on the Ilads site? I'd love to see what is said about it. Thanks much Rose Marie > > > > Kat asked if anyone else is taking Diflucan for Lyme. I am. My doctor > > came back from the ILADS conference talking about it. A lightbulb went > > off in my head. Guest guest
- When I first took the Diflucan my chest felt a bit tight. It says on the bottle to take 1 two times a day and I still am only taking the one in the am. I'm feeling better with this amount, altho I may up it to see what happens. When my daughter first took it she had alot of sinus and head congestion. Her acne after 3 days is improving alot she said. It affects folks differently apparently-- Maybe you could call them and see what the dr says. Rose Marie In , " " <betneal@y...> wrote: > >] > > > Makes me wonder why I have to wait to take Diflucan? Guest guest
I also am taking the Nystatin (4)-maintance dose and the Diflucan (1) a day. From what I understand the Nystatin is specifically for intestinal yeast and the Diflucan is for systemic yeast. I worried about this also, but then read that some others were taking both. I am on the Ceftin, so don't want the intestinal yeast. Am also taking Probiotics and digestive enzymes too. Rose Marie > > > In a message dated 11/29/2005 8:18:47 P.M. Guest guest
It is my understanding Diflucan is for Candidia. I understand Diflucan (Fluconazole) is an anti-fungal. Like Monistat. Same family much stronger and effective. From what I understand It is not an Abx. It is as hard on your bodies as Abx and is why many LLMDs wait to put you on it prefering to use herbals. I mean it is real hard on the Liver, Kidneys, Gallbladder so on. But it is for yeast not an the Infection. It works on Candidia. . Taken daily while taking Abx it works as profolactic to prevent getting Candidia. If LLMDs are attending conferences and prescribing it, this is a good thing. It shows to me that they are open and willing to accept the dangers along with the good. Danger meaning how hard it is on the system. This is my opinion but taking high doses of Abx is dangerous and I am willing to take them and I am willing to take the risk with Diflucan also. For me there is nothing worse than getting Candidia and being told to take more herbals. While I continue to slam my body with high doses of Abx. Thanks for this Forum.
