Guest guest
Dear DonnaLee, I am a long standing member of this list and check in from time to time to see if I can help anyone dealing with this miserable disease which I unfortunately have plenty of experience with. I think I can provide you with some helpful insights. The symptoms of Candida and Lyme are very similar. In fact, when a person is treated for Lyme with strong antibiotics for an extended period of time, it weakens the immune system and very often causes Candida (a yeast overgrowth). That's when the symptoms overlap, or sometimes the Candida symptoms mimicking Lyme symptoms make a person feel as if they need to be retreated for Lyme, when in fact they need to follow a Candida regimen and rebuild the immune system. Usually when you have Candida, as I did, you crave sugar and have a rapid weight gain. Steroids really add fuel to the fire with Candida and that in conjunction with sugar and antibiotics make us turn into the " Pillsbury Dough Boy/Girl. " I speak from experience after having gained 80 lbs in a five year period. Pretty upsetting. Joint pain, swelling and chronic fatigue, brain fog and confusion can be a Candida symptom or a Lyme symptom. Your specific symptoms sound circulatory and neurological in nature. Your vein problems sound circulatory and the weird feeling in your head sounds neurological and reminds me of the feeling I had years ago when I was very sick with third-stage neuro Lyme. I would wake up in the morning feeling like my brain was sleeping and it ran down my face. My face felt cold in certain areas. Then it would subside. At one point I had Bells Palsy from Lyme. I am not a doctor and of course I know that is who you will be calling on Monday, I suggest you cut out sugar, white flour to start. Eat a very healthy diet rich in green leafy vegetables to make your body more alkaline to work towards getting rid of the Candida, in case you have it. Limit your dairy as well and use soy or brown rice milk instead of cow's milk. Take lots of acidophilus. I recommend Vitadophilus from Sunrider as it is the most potent and gets right to the colin where all the good bacteria has been destroyed from medications. The good news is that no matter whether you have Lyme or Candida, either way, you need to rebuild your immune system. I am a recovered Lyme patient, and a couple of the products that got me and my family well (as we all had Lyme from 1989-1995) was Nuplus Regular, and Calli tea, also from Sunrider. It is the best nutritional support you can find and my family and I have been well for 10 years and have been antibiotic free for that period of time. I have helped many people regain their health with Sunrider Herbal Foods, which is based on the theory of regeneration from ancient China, that if the body receives proper concentrated nourishment, it will regenerate and heal itself. There is nothing out there like this herbal food, which are on a cellular level, and I would be happy to teach anyone how to eat and prepare them with some delicious and simple recipes. I will always be grateful to my friend who helped me and who found out about this wonderful company based in Torrance, CA. I have taken many classes and attended numerous seminars in the tri-state area to learn how to work these foods into our daily diet. In fact, Sunrider is the most important food we should consume in our day and everything else we eat is for fun. This company has been around for 20+ years and is in over 30 countries, and has owner expertise behind it. I hope you will try the Nuplus Regular. You won't be sorry. Promise , I am too scared not to ! Kat, Glad to hear you are tossing the animal cookies. It was very hard for me to toss all that stuff as well. Once you cleanse your body of the sugar and white flour, you won't crave it at all (well hardly at all). I cleanse with Calli tea and Fortune Delight tea very dilute, mixed with Sunnydew, an herbal sweetener. Although it's more costly, I purchase a lot of my food in the health food isle of my supermarket. I buy Zekiel 7 grain bread sold in the freezer section. It is wonderful toasted. Great bread for leftover turkey sandwiches. ;-) I also buy a lot of soy products. I love veggie burgers on this bread with lettuce, tomato and onion and I buy organic ketchup so as not to have the corn sweetener. Zekiel also makes hamburger rolls and hotdog rolls. The veggie dogs are wonderful also. I make fresh kale in the steamer and sauté it with a little garlic and olive oil. I keep my steamed kale in the frig and have it whenever I need it. It's very healthy and loaded with antioxidants and calcium. I have fruit smoothies for dessert or even for breakfast with Nuplus, fresh fruit and soy or rice milk. Nuplus is the key to getting rid of any auto immune disease. I also use chocolate and strawberry Vitashake, which is a Sunrider meal replacement and that holds me for about four hours and gives me a lot of energy. It contains Nuplus and probiotics. These are just a few ideas to get you started. Good luck with your new adventures in eating. Sue my.sunrider.com/susanrauch

Guest guest
Kat, I hear ya. There is no way to remove stress, but there are ways to miniize it. For me it was telling myself to focus on recovering from Lyme and on nothing else that wasn't really critical. So when family members have problems I had to let it go, when money issues came up I only focused on the critical ones and I stopped spending all that I could, when work was an issue I decided it was better to lose my job then loose my health... I learned simple breathing techniques to deal with my panic and anxiety attacks. I also had to stop smoking to win the battle against Lyme. Either of these are tough to beat, but you can beat them both! I stopped smoking on September 7th, 2004 and haven't smoked since. The reason is simple, I was scared straight! With all of my severe Lyme symptoms I first thought I had Lung Cancer because I had Pnuemonia that wouldn't go away, later I thought I was having major heart attacks, then I thought I had MS. So I came to the conclusion that no matter how good smoking made me feel, and it does let you forget your problems and feel good for a short period, it was one thing that I needed to stop. I know it isn't easy. I KNOW IT ISN'T EASY, but please try to stop smoking. It will speed up your recovery and help your overall heath and well being. I had a real tough time quiting so please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Be well, > > > In a message dated 11/28/2005 1:19:09 A.M. I live right near Brown Road. I live right off Conover Road in a small development. My kids used to walk to Marlboro Airport when they were teens and eat in the airport restaurant. They loved fine dining. No more Airport. Kids moved to NYC. So sad. but empty nest has its merits. I don't know the names of the families on Brown Road, but my son was friends with a couple of kids on Brown. One was a really amazing drummer. Is your husband part of that family. What is the last name. I might recognize it. I live right around the corner from where the Stafflinger family lived. They all had Lyme too. A very sad story. All the sugar and white flour aside, the first step towards regaining our health is to have a good sense of humor, to enjoy laughing at comedy movies and to find the humor even in this miserable disease. When my daughter was being home schooled on I.V. and in a hospital bed in my family room, I rented comedy movies because it releases endorphins in the brain which improve the immune system. That along with the Sunrider herbal food is what got her well. I gave up on my arsenal of drugs and went totally holistic. Sunrider is just concentrated vegetables and with the nutrition in concentrated vegetables, we can regenerate from any illness. As I said and I can't recommend this strongly enough, Nuplus is the key to getting healthy. It's concentrated nutrition with no work to prepare, cut and vegs, and that's for me. My son is 28 and my daughter is 25, both Marlboro H.S. graduates. They both live in Manhattan now, and my husband world there and I commute there to go to school. Don't know why I just don't move there, but if I did, my kids would probably move to L.A. I love NJ, even though I am originally a New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and grew up in Far Rockaway, NY. Lucky you - to be a grandma. How wonderful. Years ago, I did belong to a few Lyme groups and was very active. Now I just donate money when we can. For some people it's great to have a Lyme group and share health issues and experiences, and I think you should do it. I have shifted my energy in a different direction over the past five years and regained my health with the help of my dear friend who is moving on Thursday from ville to California. She taught me everything about the Sunrider food and I am going to miss her more than anything. She hs helped a lot of people with their health issues and California is lucky to get her. She is only a phone call away for any of us who need her help. She will always be the Sunrider guru of Monmouth County. Anyway, about your group. If you would like, I would be happy to come in as a guest speaker at some point and explain what I did to regain my health. I could even make some herbal smoothies for everyone to taste. I told you I would cook for you.;-) Just say the word and I'll be there, Take care, Sue

When I am really sick , I watch HGTV all day ....they make some of those little lofts look oh so sweet ! It is so nice, BUT ....on the other hand, I need space ....lots of it ! I sure would move to Cali if I didn't have my children and my Mom here ... AND yes ..the best thing in my life is my little grandaughter !!! SHE IS THE GREATEST ....5 now and just so funny , the things that come out of her mouth ! Anyway ...YES it sure is a small world ! As I said, most of the LaMura family has gone south. Most of my inlaws grandchildren went to Catholic school , the ones that lived up there on 79 and Brown ..not many left now. My kids went to Manasquan. I am so glad to hear that for now you have concurred lyme ! That is just wonderful ! I hope someday I will be telling all of you about my recovery ! For now , I am starting to have herx reactions from the diflucan ..but that is my fault. I forgot the directions and just took what was written on the bottle. Didn't titrate up as I was supposed to do ! If I do get some people for a support group I sure will call on you to speak of your products. People get so busy , who knows if anyone would even want a group once a month. I would , but lots of people aren't into that sort of thing. ME ...I'll take all the support and information I can get my sore little hands on ! Have a nice day ! Sure did rain last night huh ? Take care, Kat
