Guest guest
I was taking tramadol 50mg 3 times a day for fibro pain before I started LDN. I had no problem stopping it, and did not take it for 24 hrs before starting LDN. It was a few weeks before I had pain control equal to the tramadol dose I had been taking. I had a immediate response to LDN and started to overdo everything, and re- injured my shoulder by over doing it. I was very fearful of not having pain relief, but now I rarely need tylenol. In the Stanford fibro study subjects needed to stop pain meds 2 weeks before starting LDN. I would have been miserable, but have been in contact with one person who is glad she stuck it out. www.LDNscinece.org has a Q & A section, that addresses pain meds and LDN. I've seen conflicing information regarding tramadol. I've read that tramadol attaches to different receptors in the brain and won't compete with LDN. On www.Pateintslikeme.com fibro board, many people take opioids for fibro pain and do OK, but I don't think their pain relief is as good as mine. To follow is a report from someone who continued to use opioids with LDN. She has had some flares, because of DDD, but has no regrets that she stuck it out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi guys I just wanted to give a little LDN update on me. Monday was my 6 month anniversary on LDN. It's been a long 6 months with many highs and many lows. But I have to report that I realized recently that I haven't felt this good in years! It was like suddenly the LDN really kicked in for me, and I no longer have the horrible morning pain in my legs that used to be so severe I could barely walk up the steps! I also noticed I no longer have that horrible elbow or knee pain, and the hip and leg pain that has plagued me for so long seems to be going away! I have been reporting all along that my energy levels have gone way up. This is still the same. I have lots of energy, and rarely have moments like I used to where I could pass out at any given second. I wake up feeling energized now rather than feeling like I had been beaten all night in my sleep. Speaking of sleep, I haven't been having those horrible nightmares anymore! I have actually pretty cool dreams that are very easy to recall. It is very weird. It is like the dreams really happened, and I keep getting thoughts of the dreams throughout my day. But they are not bad dreams, like I used to have EVERY night. They are pleasant! You know, I almost gave up on LDN. I came VERY close. I thought that narcotics were the only thing that would ever help me, but I was sooooo wrong. I was one who still took an occasional Vicodin when pain was pretty bad. Actually, I was also one who didn't stop narcs completely before I started the LDN, like they suggest you do. But after awhile, I realized the Vicodin (and Percocet sometimes) weren't really helping at all, and I knew my Dr wouldn't give me refills of those again (my rx was about to run out) so I took myself off of them completely, and honestly that is when I started to notice a real difference. At the suggestion of the pharmacist at Skip's pharmacy, I went back to only taking 4.5 mg/day, and that REALLLY helped also (I was taking 4.5 twice a day since that is how my Dr rx'ed) - the pharmacist explained that at the higher dose, it won't work the way it is supposed to for Fibromyalgia. So I took his advice, and I really do feel better than I have in over 10 years! Anyone thinking of taking LDN, please give it a chance to work. I almost gave up many, many times. I had read that for some it could take 6 months to work, and here I am 6 months later, testifying that it DOES work. Unforutnately, I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got relief right away. but I stuck with it and I am glad I did. Sure, I still get pain sometimes, but I know it is NORMAL to still have pain. EVERYONE has pain sometimes for whatever reason. In fact, my back was killing me for 3 days after x-mas. I think I strained it by bending over so much wrapping gifts for days on end. I could barely walk. But I KNEW it wasn't Fibro pain. I no longer have CONSTANT neck pain and headaches either. I ALWAYS had headaches, and came "this close" to going to a surgeon to have my neck fixed (many issues there) against the advice of my chiro. And now my neck doesn't even bother me anymore! I feel like this is FINALLY my answer. I think this med would benefit so many people if they would just give it a chance, and if their doctors would just listen to them and let them try it. Thanks so much LDN for changing my life!!
