Guest guest
I do not have a viral load quantity before taking LDN but from 1995 thru 2004 my AST (sgot) was 116 it is now 49 and my ALT (sgpt) was 161 and is now 54. My viral load at this time is 609000 and 10 years ago it was 314000 so I will wait 1 year and test again. There is nothing that will explain the difference in the AST & ALT scores except LDN. Needless to say, I am pleased.Sterling
Guest guest
That's wonderful news!!!!!! Except that your viral load is higher? Or is that a mis-type? Are you on 4.5 or 3.0? I've been on 3 mg. LDN since early 2009 for my hep c - my liver enzymes (alt/ast and the others) are still normal after being very elevated pre-ldn. My viral load is now around 11,000 from 1,400,000 pre-ldn and I feel great! I am also still gluten/casein free and do the Berkson supplements of ALA (taken with b complex), selenium and milk thistle among others. So happy to hear this Sterling! Guest guest
Oh, I thought that it was 6 million, lol - well that's even better that it's what it is. Going from a very high 3 million plus to 600 thousand (which is considered quite low in HCV) is great! Actually, after 3 months on LDN, mine dropped from over a million to 48,000. For the past 4 lab tests, it has been less than 20,000 - though viral load is pretty changeable. I believe that the LDN has enabled my immune system to function better and in turn reduce the viral count. The LDN, with the diet and supplements (and exercise) has helped my liver heal. Good luck to you! Back in late 2006/early 2007 when my doctor was hitting me with massive doses of multiple types of antibiotics for my Lyme infection my liver enzymes soared and we had to lay low for months while my liver recovered - AST shot up from 33 to 151, ALT from 32 to 155. I also started looking for herbal liver support supplements to help clean and heal my liver, ended up with this one, which is fantastic, Himalaya Herbal Healthcare LiverCare: Himalaya Herbal Healthcare LiverCare® Description LiverCare® has enormous health benefits for everyone * Supports the liver in functions relating to nutritional status, such as the liver's normal ability to burn fat and help support the body's metabolic process * Supports healthy liver enzyme levels and the liver's ability to regenerate itself LiverCare® assists normally functioning liver cells; it has antioxidant properties that support liver cell integrity and is a formula which assists in preserving existing liver strength when dealing with occasional overwhelming challenges. Keep in mind, the liver is the largest internal organ and it is important the liver is functioning on a normal level when performing more then 500 different functions. Silymarin, the active component of Milk Thistle, acts by maintaining healthy liver cell function. LiverCare® does the same thing. LiverCare® also supports the liver’s function when challenged by toxins not just in our food, water and air, but also increased consumption of protein and prohormones. A benefit LiverCare® has over Milk Thistle is it does not interfere with medication when taken together. Best price is from http://www.vitacost.com/Himalaya-Herbal-Healthcare-LiverCare. My enzymes dropped down to a much nice 33/32 level and have stayed there! Also I keep reading about folks fighting Candida overgrowth, something that I had problems with for over 3 years. One of the things I took to combat that problem was a product called ThreeLac, now superceded by FiveLac - they are made from live yeast that literally eat candida for lunch! After being on that for over 2 years, I was able to stop taking it near the end of last year and I'm still yeast-free (I did a bunch of other things that helped greatly, like colonic hydrotherapy to flush the yeast colonies embedded in the walls of my colon). I highly recommend both products - GLTA ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Food fight? Guest guest
Milk thistle is fine. Stick with whole herb or " full spectrum " preparations. Anything that says " standardized " has been altered in such a way to emphasize one part over another and therefore becomes more drug-like. Side effects are minimized when taking the whole herb in its original proportions. I would highly recommend Hobbs who specializes in Hepatitis therapies (http://www.christopherhobbs.com) Also, GLTA mentions colonic hydrotherapy--this procedure is absolutely contraindicated for people with Crohn's/colitis and those who may have soft spots in the bowel wall. If that's the case, look into Jini Patel's enema protocol.
