Guest guest
My primary care doc got the results of my Western Blot today. He says that while I have bands that are lighting up, it does not meet the criteria for having Lyme. He is calling the infectious disease doc to make sure that he is interpreting the results correctly, but right now he thinks it is negative. If there are any bands AT ALL lighting up, should I just go to an LLMD right now? Dr. C in Springfield, MO is probably closest. Thanks for all your help. Guest guest
Basically, you did not meet the criteria by CDC standerds, which is much stricter than Igenex standerd for lyme. CDC will not acknowlege Igenex standerd. That is why on your test result it states both standerds, Igenex and the CDC. You most definetly need to see a lyme literate MD. There is a strong chance you are positive for lyme. My LMD follows up WB's with what is called a Stricker Panel CD-57 for lyme. This tests actually looks at the blood as opposed to looking for antibodies. There is info on line. Just Google Stricker Panel CD-57 for Lyme and see what pops up. Best wishes to you........Lizzie > > My primary care doc got the results of my Western Blot today. Guest guest
Go. It is very common to have negative results when you've had Lyme for a long time. And your WB was probably not from IGenex? Meaning, you have not been tested for all relevant bands. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms, history, exposure... Serology can be used to help confirm, but cannot be used to rule out, infection. Your doctor sounds like a good guy, thorough, with an open enquiring mind. It might be worth printing out Burrascano's treatment guidelines for him, and pointing him to ILADS. He sounds like someone who might step over to the dark side. Ask for an antibiotic challenge.
