Guest guest
Hi. I wanted to give some follow-up here on the infected cat scratches because -- even though it isn't exactly Lyme -- the info relates to topics repeatedly discussed here. People have mentioned cellulitis related to Lyme.....the cat scratch infection which started just below my knee spread out in a wide circle and then one 2 " band down the front of the leg to my foot. Cellulitis! Saw a good nurse practitioner in an office where they do treat chronic Lyme. I refused the tetanus shot. Because of amoxicillin allergy, a former LLMD told me I ought not take cephalosporin (sp?). That turned out to be the treatment of choice for the cat scratch wounds. We ended up going with doxy. At home I realized I only was ordered 100 mg 2x a day, which is half of what I was taking for Lyme. My LLMD very strongly told me one day that doxy dosing is dependent on weight. And I am quite weighty in my body! I've always taken 200 mg 2x a day. And I have an old Doryx bottle to prove it. I paged the doctor from the new office. He did lots of online looking and didn't see anything about give more than 200 mg daily of it, even for Lyme. He appeared thorough in his search. Has anyone else taken larger doses of doxy per doctor's orders? Good news is that the infection seemed more clear in some ways this morning. Hadn't noticed anything better after the 200 mg dose last night. Later last night I used hot wet compresses and it didn't help much to open the closed wounds. Ample, flowing application of H2O2 softened the tissue and got the openings to appear again. I then placed one of the Takara's detox foot pads on each wound at bedtime. This morning the actual wound seemed more active, open and oozy. More inflamed. However, a bit of the other areas were normal skin color and no longer hot. Now nothing but a one inch circle around the wounds is red or hot. There was a bunch of black yucky stuff on the inside of the Takara pad, in the exact spot that covered the wound, in the exact size of the opening. I think using those herbal pads was the best thing. Clearly that's what helped. Because I only took my second abx dose within the last hour. Does anyone have any suggestions for somethng similar I could easily purchase without going to a big city? I'd like to keep using the pads, both day and night for a few days, but I only have two left. They were purchased by mail order from a company across the country. Maybe there are herbs like this I could get somewhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I used a bentonite/kaolin facial masque on the wounds a couple of times, but I'm not sure I noticed any difference. Thanks. Deanna
