My pcp is not willing to stick his neck out for Lyme - he still refuses to diagnose anyone not meeting the CDC case surveillance definition although he knows better - but he is willing to keep prescribing doxycycline for me since it is part of the standard of care for arthritis. I've been on 200mg/day more or less continuously since 1987. Anyone with Lyme and arthritis should consider asking for doxy on this basis since it is less controversial than Lyme disease.
