Kat:

I forwarded your question about Jordan's dilated pupils to an opthalmologist

friend (Dr. Dan) who responded

" Dear , Thanks for this important email. I hope Jordan is feeling

better by now. Bilateral dilation and light sensitivity in a child has to

be looked at. It sounds more like an systemic effect of a medication.

Atropine like meds or neosynephirine epinephrinescan cause what Jordan's mom

describes. Feel free to have them contact me anytime. Dan "

Hi,

I have had dilated pupils for a while now and never knew why.  I was just

wondering if this can be related to Lyme Disease?  Does anyone else get this

symptom?

I have noticed seriously some REALLY large pupils, but never done anything about

it. My eues are always bloodshot and I never have a completely accurate

prescription for my lenses.... I believe it is Lyme realted, idk though...

My mom saw me once when the sun was REALLY bright and i felt nauseas and stuff,

she said it was AMAZING how dialated my pupils were and no wonder I was sick

from the light!

This probably has to due with fatigued adrenal glands. Here is info on how

to test for

adrenal fatigue based on pupil dilation:

This is called the Pupil test and primarily tests your levels of

aldosterone, another adrenal hormone.

You need to be in a darkened room with a mirror. From the side (not the

front), shine a bright light

like a flashlight or penlight towards your pupils and hold it for about a

minute. Carefully observe the

pupil. With healthy adrenals (and specifically, healthy levels of

aldosterone<http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/aldosterone/?PHPSESSID=ceef6809\

c1835b48707819665fac9326>),

your pupils will constrict,

and will stay small the entire time you shine the light from the side. In

adrenal fatigue, the pupil will

get small, but within 30 seconds, it will soon enlarge again or obviously

flutter in it’s attempt to stay

constricted. Why does this occur? Because adrenal insufficiency can also

result in low aldosterone,

which causes a lack of proper amounts of sodium and an abundance of

potassium. This imbalance

causes the sphincter muscles of your eye to be weak and to dilate in

response to light.

I am sensitive to light, it even makes me sneeze at times. Don't know for sure

'normal' limits, People have commented at times, but unsure if it could have

been prescription drug related or not. .

Hey, cool! Well, not really, but still... I've never met anyone else who

sometimes sneezes due to light. For me, it's when there is a sudden brightness

in light that causes me to sneeze. Like when I walk out of a kind of dark office

building into bright outside sunshine I will sometimes sneeze. It's really

strange but kind of amusing as well.

Hello ,

Actually it's very common for people to sneeze with bright light. It is

a gene thing and about half the population have a gene that causes this

small event!

I never really noticed my pupils dialated, but I am very sensitive to light,

sound and touch. I think all of my senses are sensitive. Sometimes my smell and

taste are weird, but not as much as the other stuff.

Take care,

Unevenly dilated pupils, or Adie pupil, has been associated with Lyme

disease.

Hypersensitivity to light, or photophobia, is also a symptom of Lyme,

Really?  I don't have uneven dilated pupils...both are equally dilated but much

more dilated that the norm.  Just wondering if this was common with Lyme?
