Guest guest
I was bitten by a deer tick at the end of last summer and since I never developed a rash thought I was OK. Over the winter and through the spring I developed the following symptoms in this order: - numbness in fingers and hands - fatigure - mental fog - extreme sensitivy to alcohol - headaches - shortness of breath - feeling that my heart was racing I went to my primary physician and eventualy a neurologist and underwent the following tests: - 15-20 blood tests, all negative including lyme titer - brain and spine mri - emg - stress test Based on the negative titer tests and absense of joint pain my doctors completely discounted lyme disease. After being VERY persistent I convinced my primary physician to put my on doxyciline for 3 weeks (200mg daily). I started to feel much better about a week after finishing the doxy. This is the best I've felt since last December. Assuming this was lyme ... How long does it normally take to get over all the symptoms? My doctors have been of no use so I'm looking for some feedback from those who have recovered. I'm a little apprehensive that I was on a minimal dosage for a minimal time. Thoughts? My hands still have some tingling sensations and I'm a bit tired when doing yard work. But at least I'm able to concentrate enough to work. I've been trying to find a LLMD in the Boston area but it's been very difficult.
Guest guest
You were minimally treated, and since you still have some symptoms, you are at risk for a relapse. It generally takes months, possibly years of treatment to get this thing beaten. On the other hand, you may do very well for a long time, possibly for good. Mine was in remission for many years, and cropped up again when I had surgery. Without the surgery, my immune system may have been able to keep it in check indefinitely. There is still so much to learn about Lyme, no one can tell you the absolute best path to take. But in your shoes, I would alk to an LLMD and decide on a course of treatment together. I will send you the names of a couple of possible LLMDs off-list. Meanwhile search the archives here, and go to the ILADS website - lots of good information there. Look at Dr. Burrascano's treatment guidelines. Get as informed as you can. Guest guest
Dear Sir or Madam There is a list of support groups broken down geographically at http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/ If you have not already done so, you may contact some of the listed groups in your area for some advice regarding Lyme literate MDs in your area. Good luck. W Baltimore mahokie00 wrote: >I was bitten by a deer tick at the end of last summer and since I >never developed a rash thought I was OK. Guest guest
heres my 2 cents of opinion: 1. in boston go see dr. sam donta. in my opinion probably one of the top ten lyme md's in the county (if not in the top 5). you are very fortunate to be in boston!! 2. order a serum igg and igm from igenix. 3. if money is no issue you may wish to consider the bowen test, but i believe it has yet to be validated (even though it is available). there appear to be a very large number of people who test positive. cfsguy > > I was bitten by a deer tick at the end of last summer and since I > never developed a rash thought I was OK.
