Right now the doc thinks it is scar tissue, (but he also thought is could be a stone). If it is a tumor it is a 50/50 chance of being cancerous. If anyone has any input I would appreciate it. >>I have been on LDN since April, plus many supplements. >> >>Fibro, CD, hashi, RA, adrenal insufficiency. , I had a flattened parotid gland (salivary gland). It was flattened when I had a serious fall on my face 5 years ago (I fainted and fell face forward onto concrete, breaking 4 teeth, and developing a bubble on my inner lip where a tooth went all the way through my lip). About 2 years later, my face started swelling whenever I ate. I went to a dentist first, who sent me to a specialist, who sent me to another specialist who suspected a stone in my parotid gland. But after putting that tube up my sinuses he said it wasn't a stone, but a flattened gland (blocked) and agreed it was probably caused by the fall I had previously. He said I could live with it or have surgery, which may not resolve the problem anyway and may injure my sinus glands which were also smashed and curving around my parotid gland. I chose to live with it rather than have surgery that he thought was iffy anyway, but after almost 2 years of living with the swelling while eating, I started taking iodine (in the form of Iodoral pills), for Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and immediately upon starting Iodoral 50 mg daily, my salivary glands started producing enough saliva to unblock the gland and I have never had any swelling or problem with the salivary glands since then. So I would suggest trying Iodoral 50 mg (there is an iodine list on ) to see if that resolves your salivary gland problem. Hope it works for you as well as it did for me. Guest guest
Connie, Thanks for replying. Interesting. 2 years ago I too, fell flat on my face on ice cold pavement. I did have a CAT scan because of the swelling and eventual huge black eye. Nothing appeared damaged. However, the difference may be, my "mass' is in the sublingual salivary gland deep under the tongue. I have been off and on Iodoral as it makes a difference in my muscles cramping up. About two years ago I was on large amounts. I have some and could up my dose to see if it would open up prior to the surgery scheduled for Dec 14. However, now on the Natural Thyroid Hormone- Adrenals (NTH_A) group they are recommending to not take any iodine supplement as it makes Hashimotos worse. My Hashimotos seems to be out of control and the antibody levels keep rising and rising, TPO >1300. I am 100% gluten free. I have had some severe RA flares, tracing it back to organic blue corn chips (probably an allergy to the concentrated corn protein in them ... or the oil) and to chocolate candy bars (probably the sugar and casein). My gut does not yet appear to be healed since I am reacting so much to them. It is such an intricate dance!! I just copied the info re" the GAPS diet and may follow that.
