Guest guest
Hi , I see that you now get your prescriptions filled through your chemist and the capsules are produced by Gowrie of Ruislip. I used to do just this until my chemist informed me that these 'specially manufactured' drugs were costing the NHS over £300 per month for me. I had been under the impression that they were a fraction of this amount. On investigation, I found that Dicksons charge the NHS the correct amount, ie. £30 approx per month. I know it is more inconvenient to post the monthly prescription to Glasgow, but when I explained the situation to my GP, he now issues a prescription for two months at a time. So, sending off 6 prescriptions a year is saving the NHS approximately £3200 per annum on my prescription alone. Think how much we would all save the NHS if we did this - and, of course Dixons will benefit too and they do so much to help our MS community. Incidentally, they don't charge us for postage and the capsules are always received within a few days. -- O'Connor Link Associates 015394 41439 www.linkassoc.co.uk
Guest guest
Hi, Yes, dales was one of the suppliers to my local chemist, but there was another one - I can't remember their name and they were even more expensive. I am afraid that I cannot say 'good luck' to anyone who is trying to profiteer from our illness and I only hope that if the NHS are doing something about this practice, then perhaps they will have a systerm of 'Nominated Suppliers' for certain drugs. Guest guest
Hi , Business is business and one has to make money. I’m not against anyone making money for something that actually helps with their disease. What I am against is those ripping off the NHS with their ridiculous marked up prices and I do think the Dept of Health are foolish to allow this to happen. Interesting to know there’s another pharmaceutical company charging the NHS more than dales though. Ridiculous! Jayne Crocker www.LDNNow.comImportant! Guest guest
Congratulate your GP for accepting your advice on using Dickson's and not their " own " pharmacist and so save the NHS money. Unfortunately there seem to be so many GPs and surgeries who haven't got that brain power. And it takes patients like you to make them aware and care about the expense (and save, when saving is so easy) Good on you! Silvia

Dicksons send me one months supply at a time and on the third month I get a reminder to renew my prescription so I only send 4 prescriptions a year. Also, those of us in Wales don’t pay for prescriptions if we get it on the NHS. Jayne Crocker www.LDNNow.comImportant!
