Guest guest
It may be your way of your body hersing. So, when feel worse you might try stopping abxs till feel better or worse and see if this helps. Then restart when worse or better. Check w/your lyme dr. You can also talk to your dr or mental health specialist and ask for an Rx for depression. I only occassionally get this way and if I do I know it will pass. Try and keep occupied. Guest guest
Hi , Fatigue is my worst symptom, but depression & brain fog are a close 2nd. It may take you another few months before you see any improvement in them. In the meantime, there's nothing wrong, that I know of, with treating your depression/anxiety with medication; I encourage you to speak to your LLMD about it. Guest guest
Is stopping antibiotics during a herx okay or does that set you back? Thanks > > > > It may be your way of your body hersing. Guest guest
If you get worse this is when you start up. For me I will get a herx, feel spacy and then I start feeling worse and I know it is time to take med. This is just my body. YOur body could be different and you feel better. My lyme dr says when feel worse stop, till feel better or worse than the worst before. Then restart. Does that make sense. Have your lyme dr explain it as I am NOT a medical dr and can only suggest something to try. You need to check w/your LLMD what is appropriate for you as I can not give medical advise for your situation.. Guest guest
My brain fog, fatigue, inability to focus, getting lost, short-term memory loss, etc all improved on just 200 mg of doxy. I only weigh 110 lbs, so I think I got reasonable CNS penetration with the lower dose. When it was doubled to 400 mg, everything got worse for about a month, and depression became much more a part of it. It took about 3 weeks to start to improve. It is still improving daily, knock on wood. Getting my lazy ass on the treadmill did a lot to help with my mood and over-all energy level. It's hard to get started, since all I want to do is play another game of solitaire. But it really does help me. I try to get my body temp up on the treadmill, then immediately soak in a hot tub to get it even higher. I'm hoping I can kill off more of the little buggars this way than I can with antibiotics alone. During the week when I went from 200 to 300 to 400, I got positively euphoric. I think it was actually a herx, but it was a really nice herx. Hang tough. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Ask yur LLMD if you should consider some happy drugs to help you to get there. There's no shame in using all the help available. highlandave98 <seanmiller1@...> wrote: Can people let me know if depression/anxiety/brainfog is there worst or main symptoms and which antibiotic treatment has worked to help it and how long did it take you to start seeing results? Guest guest
, Abx (doxy and then ceftin) worked to clear up my Lyme brain. At first I could tell my doctor what my own phone number was and now I swear my brain acuity is better then it ever has been. My cognitive reasoning is up and my short and long term memory is great. It took about 6 months and I may be the exception. Lyme affects us all differently. I recommend doing brain exercises such as cross-word puzzles, memory challenges and things that are fun that will exercise your brain while you are recovering. One of the exercises I like to do is to remember each of my class mates names for every year I went to school. It's fun and it helps build my memory abilities. Be well, > > Can people let me know if depression/anxiety/brainfog is there worst > or main symptoms and which antibiotic treatment has worked to help it > and how long did it take you to start seeing results? Guest guest
thanks that was helpful. How long had you had Lyme before you got treatment and how long on Doxy did it take to help the anxiety depression. > Can people let me know if depression/anxiety/brainfog is there worst > or main symptoms and which antibiotic treatment has worked to help it > and how long did it take you to start seeing results? Guest guest
Hey, , We don't really know how long I've had Lyme - somewhere between 5 and 18 years. The doxy helped within a week for the pain symptoms, and I saw a fairly quick improvement in cognitive stuff (I can read better, I can count change at the check-out, and I'm not getting lost in the car). The anxiety was gone, following 6 weeks at 200 mg of doxy. It came back when I stopped, but is gone again after 5 weeks at 400 mg. The depression has been more of a roller coaster, and may, after all, be more related to the situation - struggling to afford all of this, wondering whether to sell my horses, wondering if I can handle summer on doxycycline (I'm already burned and blistered, and it's winter). I will say that, when I treadmill, my mood is very up and very stable, and I am less anxious and more able to sleep. So if you are well enough to exercise, go for it. Hope this helps, highlandave98 <seanmiller1@...> wrote: thanks that was helpful.
