Guest guest
I was on Doxycyline for 2 months and now my doctor says I have to stop because my Liver Enzymes have increased, normal is 40 and mine were 70. I am really down because I feel like I am taking huge steps backwards. Has anyone else had this problem with there liver enzymes and if so was there anything they did to deal with it? I am really worried that I will never get to beat this Lyme.
Guest guest
sometimes the elevation is just temporary...while the doxy is killing the spirochetes the liver may show elevation...I had good success with minocycline and my liver is normal now....do you have an llmd....in short the elevation may be a herx ask your doc... eric highlandave98 <seanmiller1@...> wrote: I was on Doxycyline for 2 months and now my doctor says I have to stop because my Liver Enzymes have increased, normal is 40 and mine were 70. Guest guest
, I also have had liver enzymes at about your level. It was most likely due to having numerous gallstones. My old primary care doctor never told me about them even though she had CT results that showed gallstones. Do you know if your gallbladder is healthy? Best regards, Margh [ ] Liver enzyme question? >I was on Doxycyline for 2 months and now my doctor says I have to stop > because my Liver Enzymes have increased, normal is 40 and mine were > 70. I agree with him that it could have been a result of a herx and a large amount of toxin build up. This is a good thing, not necessarly the toxin build up, but maybe you our having a major killing off of the bacteria. It's Ok to go off temporarly, but maybe talk to your Dr about going back on the doxy. It very well could be doing exactly what its supposed to be doing. I take Silymarin (Milk Thistle Extract) 150 mg three times a day to help support liver function. My LLMD also gave me a prescription for Cholestyramine, a powder that I add to water or juice that helps bind the toxins and eliminate them from the body faster. Best wishes to you Lizzie
