Guest guest
Depression is part of the syndrome of fibromyalgia, which I have. The lifting of depression was the first effect I noticed with LDN. So yes, you may well be able to drop the antidepressant, and it's up to you when you give it a try. Carefully monitor how you are feeling, however. You don't want the depression to sneak back up on you. You might want to consider 5HTP if you seem to continue to need a little more lift. 5HTP is the extract from a flower seed (griffonia) native to South Africa, and it supplies the brain with the precursor to serotonin. So its effect is to give the brain more serotonin instead of conserving the existing serotonin as the main traditional antidepressants do, which often doesn't work or ceases to work because of a pathological lack of serotonin production. --V At 03:04 PM 11/27/2010, you wrote: >I'm happy to report that I took my very first dose of LDN (2mg) last night >and so far the only side effect I've noticed is bouts of vertigo upon >rising and a little light-headedness. Guest guest
before stopping any anti-depressant cold turkey, even when it has been used at low dose, check the web thoroughly for possible problems... might still need to wean off. i just found my mom has been on cymbalta for some months and looked into it after a geriatric caregiver we know told me about what a horrible drug it is... looked into it and yes it is. side effects of use and of missing a couple days read like the list of most of her current problems. now i'm in range to talk to that doc and if he won't prescribe an alternative to help her while weaning off cymbalta, and offer a real good reason why it was o.k. to put her on it in the first place, his ass is fired and will be bad rapped wherever possible on the web. > [low dose naltrexone] Update & questions following my > first LDN dose > > I'm happy to report that I took my very first dose of LDN > (2mg) last night and so far the only side effect I've noticed > is bouts of vertigo upon rising and a little > light-headedness. I'm wondering if the antidepressant along with LDN might be what's contributing to the vertigo and light-headedness that I'm experiencing today. I would love to discontinue my antidepressant. I'm on a very low dose and could probably forego taking it tonight as an experiment to see how I feel tomorrow. > > Any thoughts or suggestions. My ultimate goal is to make LDN my sole treatment.
