Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I'm so sorry that you had to go through that! That PT is a mean person and should get a job in a boxing arena... You are not crazy, those are lyme symptoms and they can manifest that way. I was always a tough person as well, I had my daughter is 34 minutes flat, major surgery and left the hospital within 23 hours because I could sleep better at home. And now it's very difficult to tolerate something that would in other ocassions just brush up on me. Can you change your PT? You have enough to worry about without her adding stress to your life! Furthermore the stress will weaken your immune system. Hang in there, > I am just needing to cry because I have started PT for my cervical neck. > > I have done this electronic traction for two days the today was the > third. > > She had me do some exercise with a rubber band thing and while I was > doing it my back got into those twitches and jerky like things. > > > This is something that I have only recently been having happen. Guest guest
<<<The neuro surgeon that has me doing PT may not believe in lyme. He just sent me to PT because of encroachemnt on neural formania and bulging disk and he mentioned arthritis. Then did a lumbar MRI and I have three buldging disk there. Am I crayzier than I thought I was ?>>>> Sandy, You are not crazy..............the MRI itself is showing you that there is a problem in your back. I also had bulging disks in my back......I had pain in my back and in my right hip. So bad in the hip I would limp, and had lots of trouble getting up from a sitting position. Unfortunately, the PT I received in my local area, did not help me at all. So I drove an hour away to see a Neurosurgeon. He sent me to Kessler Institute (one of the top PT facitlities on the East Coast). My PT dx the problem as my S-I joint in my hip. I have had three S-I joint injections along with plenty of PT over 8 months. I must say the pain is gone, I no longer limp, and I get right up from sitting without hesitation. ..I owe all that to my Physical Therapist. I think you should find a different facility for your PT............a good Physical Therapist should be able to figure out what is going on and help you to return a functional level with your back........my PT never said she couldn't help me..in fact they believe many times the MRI doesn't tell the WHOLE story. Scare the other patients............are you kidding!!! Start looking for another PT. Conniek
Guest guest
Connie - strictly from a health professional's perspective, your PT is not...professional, I mean. As far as I am concerned, once you told her that the movements were not voluntary, she should have accepted that and dealt with it. Haranging you and casting aspersion on your character is strictly off limits. If it's possible, finding a more patient-friendly rehab group would be a good choice, IMHO. Guest guest
Sandy, Your not any crazier then me ;-) Have you had your daughter checked for Lyme? When my wife was pregnant with our son she also had preeclamsia and gained a lot of weight. She has a problem with her hip as well. Turns out that our son has Lyme. We discovered this when he was 12 months old. He was born with two minor birth defects. He has a red splotch on his shoulder blade and he had minor urethra (I think that's correct) that was corrrected with a minor surgery. My wife also has it. We never saw an EM rash or tick on either of them and I have never seen a tick on any of the three of us in the past 2 years. I suspect that I gave it to my wife and she in turn gave it to my son. The doctors claim that this couldn't have happened because they say we have different strains, who knows??? Please don't every take that type of treatment from a health care provider. Your the boss! 8 months ago I was having terrible neurological problems coupled with mental anguish, stress and panic attacks. It got so bad one day that the doctors office had called to tell me that an opening had come up and they just needed my information to book that time for me. They asked me my address and my home phone number and I couldn't tell them! I had been having bad Lyme brain, going from room to room not knowing why I was there, I was getting lost in my own house. Since then I have been getting noticable better. I told my dr. that she had cured the problem of men never knowing directions when driving :-) Stick with it and seak a better PT. Look for one that has experience with Lyme patients. Be well, > I am just needing to cry because I have started PT for my cervical neck. > > I have done this electronic traction for two days the today was the > third. > > She had me do some exercise with a rubber band thing and while I was > doing it my back got into those twitches and jerky like things. > > > This is something that I have only recently been having happen. I think you meant this post for Sandy, In fact, my PT was terrific........and I am writing a letter to her supervisor stating such, Connie
Guest guest
Dear Sandy, No you are not crazy, I also got the same crap from my MD's before I was diagnosed with lyme. I kept getting muscle twitches up and down my legs...usually my right one. I went to my MD and she said it was stress related (because I was planning a wedding and about to get married), she said " maybe your body and mind are telling you that you don't want to get married. " I was furious, I still haven't seen her since then. trust me...it is probably lyme related or something else. But I don't think it's all in your head. i see a neurologist as well, he knows about my lyme but he is also curious about MS becuase I am getting symtoms related to that as well. it's so tough to have all these strange feelings going on in your body, but stay strong...and if possible avoid that PT! Guest guest
dear sandy, i'm so sorry that you had to suffer this unkind treatment from your health provider, uncompassionately adding to the stress that you are already dealing with. in situations like this, i have to remind myself that people often act like the pt did because they are frustrated by their ignorance of what is going on, they don't know how to help, and unfortunately, they are not strong enough to admit that they don;t know. i have also experienced spasms and tremors, some of my most obvious and strange symptoms three years ago. i saw two neurologists. one called it stress-related, the other referred me to psychiatrist. neither would consider anything related to lyme (or to the nerve damage i had in my neck from fall down stairs). both spasms and tremors have significantly diminished this year since treatment for lyme. be kind to yourself. you are doing everything you can to help your healing. deep peace, kendra
Guest guest
Connie - you are so right - I did mean the message for Sandy. I am glad your p/t is such a good one. I am in rehab for knee replacement and neck stuff(I think it is Lyme related). I was telling my therapist about Sandy's experience and she was appalled!! Guest guest
> Am I crayzier than I thought I was ? > > Sandy Dear Sandy, May I offer the possibility that you are more sane than you think? Scaring the other patients? What an inappropriate thing to say. I think the PT didn't understand what was happening, had to pretend she did, and got scared as well. Not a very professional reaction. Best, Deanna
