Guest guest
I can only talk about personal experience Art and I was better taking LDN whilst on 40mg of prednisone. I am not quoting Dr Ian Zagon. Can you share your personal experience re this, it would help so muich. Thanks again. Jayne Crocker www.LDNNow.com Important! Guest guest
From, a member of LDNNow:- Yes, LDN is not an immune enhancing method. The restoration of correct immune function is not enhancement of the kind you Art definwe. What I believe is happening is that we all imagine the immune system is boosted. Why would we want to do that in the absence of a pathogen or stress? We only need the immune response activation when there is a reason for it. Endorphins are immuno modulatory agents of the cytokine system, and that is where I personally believe you are miFreom all the research I’ve done you need to restore correct immune function to deal with autoimmunity, not boost or even suppress the immune system. Endorphins do a lot besides, but this one dimensional idea that LDN boosts immune system is out of date and needs scrapping fast. Jayne Crocker www.LDNNow.com Important! Guest guest
I think that if you read Dr Zagon and group's paper, (abstract here:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20598772 that it is fairly clear that the mechanism by which LDN works should not be thought of as immune enhancement. (stimulator) That said, steroids have such adverse long term effects, that weaning them off slowly with the help of LDN is usually a good plan. best, P.B. > > Dr. Ian Zagon(laboratory scientist) at Penn State says LDN and prednisolone go together OK, but I usually ask patients to not combine them until they get down to 10mg a day on their way to weaning their kids off of prednisone/prednisolone. Guest guest
Jayne, When laboratory tests show that all with MS have decreased beta endorphin production, progressive forms moreso than remitting forms of MS, multiplying the amount of beta endorphins overnight with LDN is considered boosting those beta endorphins back towards normal so that the immune system can do what it was meant to do, fight disease. It has been shown by Dr. M. Gironi that beta endorphins are indeed low in those with MS. Guest guest
The actual LDN site says boost, but I think modulate or correct would be more accurate. > > From, a member of LDNNow:- > > > > Yes, LDN is not an immune enhancing method.
