Dr. Norm Shealy has extensively studied the use of transdermal magnesium

chloride and his results are often quoted by other physicians who are now

writing their own books on the subject. His first book on the subject, Holy

Water Sacred Oil was published in 2000.

Shealy's subsequent clinical studies found that the three most effective means

to restore adequate intracellular magnesium levels are:

1) IV magnesium chloride - 10 applications over the course of two weeks and

then must use transdermal Mg chloride or oral magnesium taurate for maintenance

thereafter.

2) Oral magnesium taurate for 1 year (I think at a dose of 800 mg/day but not

remembering at the moment)

3) Transdermal Mg chloride - 2 tsps containing approx 150 mg Mg chloride per

tsp - 2x per day for 4-6 weeks depending on the individual's beginning status

and ongoing health issues. (these amounts reflect what he used in the studies

and what is in the Mg lotion that he sells)

There is more information about the clinical studies on his website -

www.selfhealthsystems.com or you can speak to him directly via his weekly radio

show that is broadcast over the internet.

I do not have a link to reference this but I have read that a body can be

severely depleted of Mg before it will show up in a regular blood test. After

looking around a bit I settled on using SpectraCell's FIA Comprehensive 5000.

Their method of using lymphocytes gives a 3 month 'window " whereas a blood test

gives a snapshot of what is present on that particular day & time and does not

reflect intracellular status.

Hi ,I can read with great interest this present thread on transdermal magnesium oil. I also respect that your opinion is your own. So far, every email I have read in response to you has provided information concerning the benefits of transdermal magnesium oil.Magnesium when taken orally can produce loose bowels. When I make that statement, I am not reading from a book. I am speaking from personal experience. When told you that tests before and after confirmed that transdermal magnesium gets into the body, do you think she is reading from a book? The purpose of this group is to promote the iodine protocol. That protocol includes magnesium. Magnesium is vital. If you are able to get sufficient magnesium using an oral form, then that is

good. I use a combination of food and also oral and transdermal supplementation. Transdermal application presents the least problems as far as my GI tract is concerned. Black beans is a great food source for magnesium as well.Regards, Bastida>I guess without blood tests before and after this oil use, we won't truely >know if it brings up the over all body's levels.>> Light~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~--A.J. Hi everyone, hello , thanks for this group

I'm following this thread since the begening, but never participated because

this group beeing on Iodine.

My opinion is that Magnesium as magnesium chloride is a lot more that was said

here so far. Most of my infos on it come from a french book, Les Vertus

Curatives du Magnesium, writen by Dr VERGINI. Some part of it's content can

be read at the link at the end.

I'm using it since 4 years, transdermaly and internaly. A Wide range of deasises

can obtained very good results in few times. Even that " terrible " H1N1 " could

not resit to magnesium, gone within 24 hrs.

I know seller of magnesium oil won't like the following info, that, but

Magnesium can be bought in bulk, and you can do your own magnesium oil for few

penny only. I do my own magnesium oil, 33% concentration ( 1part Mg for 3 part

distilled water, so 333gr MgCl2 add to 1 liter water give 1 liter and it cost me

not even $1 , to buy the same thing in the store would cost you $2500 approx, a

real rip off.

1gr of Magnesium Chloride (MgCl 6H2O) = 120mg Mg . 1 tsp = 5g = 600mg Mg .

and to end this post, my opinion to a healthy deasise free life, Iodine,

Magnesium Chloride and Vitamine A (3000-5000UI/Day)

Thanks for this link!

As mentioned in previous posts I also buy USP (pharmaceutical grade) Mg chloride

crystals from an aquarium supply store and make my own oil, lotion or just use

it as a soak. One could probably also buy USP grade from chemical supply

company.

To add minerals I use pure water that has Himalayan salt added to it and after

reading information from Dr. Mark Sircus I now also add sodium bicarbonate which

is needed to transport the magnesium into the mitochondria.

Not everyone needs this but to reduce the stinging sensation I add coconut oil.

Hi , I'm interested in your post. I was under the impression that Nigari was mag chloride. If you also pour in the Swansons, isn't that the same thing? What am I missing? I've just been doing the Mag Chloride soak.Thank you!Trish From: <@...>Subject: Re: Magnesium oiliodine Date: Sunday, September 26, 2010, 4:22 PM

,

Due to the itch i suffer when i spray on the mag oil, i put it in my mag soak. I use 1/2 a bottle from Swanson with a cup of epsom salt and sea salt and 1/4 cup of nigari flake.

But when i am near the ocean i go for a dip from two to three hours and that really revitalizes me for a week and a half.

>

> ,You need to put it on properly and in the beginning much more than the recommended dose. You will notice a difference in a few days.Serum magnesium blood tests are not an accurate representation of body wide magnesium status. Only a tiny percentage of magnesium in the body is in the blood. So not much use on relying on them. There are tests for whole body status but they are not yet widelyavailable.see The Magnesium Miracle by Carolyn Dean MD.Â

P,Thank you for that valuable post.Interestingly Carolyn Dean MD uses liquid ionic angstrom magnesium. The advantage of this form is there are no bulkly fillers and binders as thereare in a tablet. So easier to digest by far. Gets over the issue of absorptionwhich is very low in tablet form.worth a look. From: Poff <poffcorn@...>Subject: Re: Magnesium oiliodine Date: Monday, 27 September, 2010, 13:08

Interestingly enough, the first place I learned of transdermal absorbtion of magnesium was my medical doctor. He prescribed epsom salts baths as a way of getting magnesium to the muscles that were spasming when I was a kid because the skin is the largest organ of the body (though most people don't think of it as an organ and I didn't till the doct told me), and it absorbs what is on it and a epsom salt is high in magnesium. Works like a charm. And I've used it since then though now that I know I was deficient in vitamin D and increased that, the spasms are not a problem unless I forget to take it.... I would imagine that any magnesium chloride purchased for salt water aquarium

use would be safe for human use, as those fish can be unbelievably expensive,

and therefore, no one would risk their health with poor ingredients. As soon as

I finish my $150 a gallon magnesium oil, I plan on making my own with some $2.50

a pound magnesium chloride I found at an aquarium source.

What is the concentration of MgCL2 of your Magnesium Oil? 2% means 2gr MgCl2 in

100ml distille water. 4% = 4gr MgCl2 in 100ml water, etc

1gram of MgCl2 containt approx 112mg Mg

With these info, you can easily dilute to the concentration of your choice

If it is safe for fish, should be safe for us :) special if use as transdermal

oil.

Probably could have the same result with epson salt?

My experience is that mg chloride is NOT the best choice. Mg sulfate works much better for me and is far less expensive. There is alot of research that has been done on the transdermal efficacy of mg sulfate and it works!! you can see one such study at:

http://www.mgwater.com/transdermal.shtml

MgsO4 is also one of the best choices for oral absorption. Usually 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day is well tolerated by most people. There are also protocols using mgso4 pr (per rectum) I have raised my magnesium levels using all of these protocols including nebulising. Robb

Regarding results with epsom salts (Mg sulfate) ... the body must convert all

forms of magnesium to the chloride form for use so cutting to the chase and

using Mg Chloride is a good thing to do.

The clinical studies by Dr. Norm Shealy were done with MgCl2 so one could not

count on the restoration estimates using Mg sulfate. Only transdermal MgCl2 was

also proven to raise DHEA levels in a natural way that does not carry the

concerns of direct use of DHEA.

if the body converts all forms of magnesium to chloride, is that a round about way of indirectly detoxing the body of bromide? just wondering.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure that one would say that the body converts all forms of

magnesium " to " chloride ... let me re-state that the body converts all forms

of magnesium to the form of magnesium chloride, which is the most bioavailable.

Here is brief info:

" Essentially, the stability constant of a metal-ligand complex defines its

relative ability to dissociate into ionic form (e.g. free magnesium and chloride

ions). The closer the stability constant is to zero, the more soluble the

complex is, and the more easily the complex can break down into ionic form for

bioavailability. After all, we are not assimilating magnesium as the magnesium

chloride compound, but rather, as free magnesium and chloride ions. Magnesium

chloride has a stability constant of zero, allowing it to be totally ionized

across a wide pH range,... " source:

http://www.ancient-minerals.com/magnesium-chloride.html

and

" more bioavailable than magnesium hydroxide and magnesium oxide, since it does

not require stomach acid to produce soluble Mg2+ ion. " source:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnesium_chloride

Robb. What is Mgs04? is it sulfate? It seems it is.What levels are you trying to achieve.?are there studies which show the efficacy of MG04 taken orally?the methods used to establish the differences mentioned are notthe standard laboratory method, or are they? What makes you say that sulfate is better apart from price? Some people may experience diarrhea taking magnesium orally! Thanks for the reference. From: Robb <rallen@...>Subject: Re: Re: Magnesium oiliodine Date: Wednesday, 29
