It is illegal for a pharmacy to sell naltrexone in the US without the buyer providing a prescription, but it is not illegal to possess naltrexone in the US without a prescription. So, for now anyway, please don't worry about it.Who knows what will happen in the future as pharma exerts more and more control overour lives through the new health care delivery system on our collective (some of you will appreciate this as wry humor) doorstep. As for your doctor - avoid him if at all possible in the future. You will be better off if HE forgets you, so don't remind him you exist. Find a better doctor. Where do you live, by the way? Maybe someone on-list can recommend a doctor to you.JackieFrom: crylea <crylea@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Ordered from River Pharmacylow dose naltrexone Date: Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 2:51 PMI am new here recently diagnosed 3 months ago with RRMS. Went to my neuro last Friday to discuss medication. He strongly insists that I start Avonex as soon as possible. I gave him the literature I printed on LDN. He told me he was unable to prescribe this as it was a "type" he wasn't authrized to prescribe... Also, he was very discouraging saying I was breaking the law and could be arrested if I obtained the medicine from Canada (River Pharmacy). Is this true? Needless to say I walked away feeling like I was a moron for even suggesting anything other than the

I have ordered from Alldaychemists and River. I found that the price at Allday was less but either is OK. I would change doctorsSterlingFrom: crylea <crylea@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Ordered from River Pharmacylow dose naltrexone Date: Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 12:51 PM

Yeah, my MS specialist did too, just after his Avonex drug rep left.

Took me 6 months to get him to script it, then 3 years into it, he asked if he could have an Avonex drug rep sit IN on my visit; gave her a run for her money.

I would ask the doc if he was a moron, before feeling like one.

Ask him if he KNOWS Anything about LDN or is he just kneejerking? Tell him it's now HIS job to LEARN, so he could Better treat you and others.

Tell him you WANT him to be the one to prescribe it.

My MS specialist gives me my scripts, he made me sign a disclaimer years ago. I started 4/2003 and have solid MRIs showing no MORE progression. MRIs showed progression before being on LDN long term, and then none since.

I Just wish I'd have heard about LDN before the last attack that left me with permanent damage.

http://www.larrygc.com/mystory is my story

DX RRMS 7/31/2002; started LDN 3.0 4/17/2003, still doing 3.0

Good luck

Well, this is a totally different perspective than the one I just commented

on, and one definitely worth considering. Actually standing up to the

doctor. I think some of us are more capable of doing that than others, but

it's certainly a good way to get these MDs thinking.

The main thing is for someone with MS not to be dissuaded and to get the

LDN asap, like Larry says,in order to have the least amount of damage.

Larry and "crylea", I would not recommend discussing LDN with a doctor who tells a patient she is breaking the law by ordering NTX. And further a doctor who believes the governmenthas good intentions towards human beings must be wearing blinders. Let "crylea" take care of herself first. Let her enjoy the beneficial care and compassionateunderstanding a good doctor can provide. Please don't ask her to be responsible for changing the mind of a person who has talked about LAW BREAKING and ARREST to a patient looking for something better than he has to offer. If she decides later to see him that's fine, but for now I believe she should take care of herself only, and not him too."crylea" there are doctors all over the US who are LDN

friendly - I am sure if you say whereyou live people will direct you to one near you.JackieFrom: LarryGC <larrygc@...>Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Ordered from River Pharmacylow dose naltrexone , "crylea" <crylea@...>Date: Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 6:09 PM

You WILL NOT get arrested! Thousands of people use online pharmacies for all

sorts of things. It`s not an illegal drug. No one is spying on you to see what

youre up to and no one is checking your mail. Half the people here have

probably got their meds from Canada or India and as far as I know no one is

locked up as a result.

He`s scaremongering. My husband`s neuro at a highly reputable hospital has

prescribed LDN for over five years - it`s absolutely at any doctor`s discretion

and I cant imagine any doctor not being allowed to prescribe any legal drug.

Dont worry.

I'm sorry you had this upsetting visit with your neurologist. It sounds a lot like one I had with my exneurologist last fall. I told him I wanted to take LDN and gave him tons of printed information to read. He said it was against the law for him to prescribe it and he would absolutely not do it. I told him that it was lawful for him to prescribe it off-label but he still refused. He wanted me on a CRAB drug right away. He told me I would feel bad a lot on the CRAB drug I choose but I'd have 25-30% less exacerbations. No thanks! I was tired of feeling bad! He continued to try to make me feel foolish for even suggesting LDN. He said I had wasted all of my time surfing the internet for information on LDN and I should leave the prescribing to him. I felt I was talking to a brick wall. I never went back and I found a doctor who would prescribe LDN. If I were you I'd find a LDN friendly doctor ASAP. I've never ordered from Canada but if you're interested it's easy to get LDN from a LDN friendly doctor per a phone consultation. Crystal keeps a list. You can email her and she'll be happy to send it to you. Her email address is: angelindisguise67@... Blessings!AnitaOn Jul 27, 2010, at 3:51 PM, crylea wrote:I am new here recently diagnosed 3 months ago with RRMS. Went to my neuro last Friday to discuss medication. I have MS, have been using LDN since March 2005 and get it from Skip's Pharmacy

via a prescription written by my neurologist here in New York.
