Guest guest
Hi everyone, I joined this list more than a year ago, but moved to a very small town that had no Internet services so I was offline for a more than a year. Just a bit of background: I was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS in 95 which has since progressed to secondary-progressive. Was on Beta Seron for 4 years but after an antibody test, which was the highest my neuro had ever seen, I was taken off the drug. My Dr then placed me on Oxycontin, Oxy Instant Release & Tylenol 4 for the pain. I became addicted to the drugs, which didn't help ease the pain at all. I was so drugged that some days I wasn't able to tell you my name. In January of this year, I asked my Dr (a new one) to hospitalize me to detox. I had had enough. Two weeks in the hospital, & I finished detoxing at home which took the whole month of February. But you see, I had a goal in mind which helped me get through probably the worst period in my life - I wanted to start LDN but couldn't because of all the opiate drugs I was on. I ordered my LDN from River Pharmacy, which is located only 1 province away, but the drug had to be shipped to Canada via Texas. Go figure! I was already to start the LDN but suffered a relapse which they hospitalized me for & placed me on steroids for 2 weeks. Then my neuro said I'd have to wait 3 weeks before the steroids were out of my system. So again, I got ready to start the LDN when my MS takes a turn for the worse again so back to the hosp. I was put on another steroid at a higher dose. So finally, on Aug. 2 I started LDN. I took so many helpful notes from this list (thank you so much), I was able to mix up the LDN with no problems whatsoever. I have had no vivid dreams nor problems sleeping but that may be because I take 2 - 30 mg. Dalmane sleeping pills. I started at 1.5 mg & increased my dose to 2 mg on Aug.14. I stayed on that dose for three days then upped it to 2.5 mg.Big mistake. I was so tired that I'd sleep most of the day so I went back to 2 mg. Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to add that my neuro & my Dr would not even consider writing me a script. My neuro is elderly & if there's not a million clinical trials behind a drug, forget it. But it was my Dr's reaction that surprised me the most. He is in his late thirties & had an absolute fit when I showed him the documentation while in the hosp. detoxing. If it wasn't for River Pharmacy not needing a script I'd have never got the LDN. I saw my Dr. 2 weeks ago & told him the pain had returned & I could barely walk. He said "How about trying that drug you mentioned & showed me the info on" which totally blew me away. I replied, "I've already been on it for a week." So far the LDN has not eased my pain or helped with my co-ordination but I will keep taking it & try increasing the dosage again soon. Again, I'd like to thank everyone on this list for posting such helpful info & I pray that with time, the LDN will prove to be beneficial as I'd like to get my life back. Bright Blessings to you all and a million thanks. Brittany in Saskatchewan, Canada. Brittany
