I'm new here; I know there are other disease-specific LDN groups, but this group

seems to be the busiest & most helpful, so here I am.

I've been an ME/CFIDS & Fibro patient for 17 years. Over the years, I've taken

innumerable prescription meds & supplements that did little or nothing, or else

made me even sicker. I have a myriad of environmental and food allergies and I

have extreme drug-sensitivity. The only prescription drug I take now, is Maxalt

MLT for migraines, & I have a regimen of vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements

that I take regularly, which seem to be minimally helpful to my wonky immune

system. I don't eat fast food, or beef, pork, dairy products, corn, corn

products, or wheat products & I avoid refined sugars whenever possible. I cook

only with olive or sesame oils. I drink mostly filtered water, or sometimes a

few different juices, or soy milk---I don't drink dairy milk, coffee, tea, or

soft drinks, at all. My worst symptoms are extreme fatigue, cognitive problems,

immune system dysfunction, joint, muscle & nerve pain, and sleep problems .

I began taking 1.5 mg. LDN at night on July 23rd, 2010. I intend to stay with

that dose until I see my doctor again in December. I didn't notice any ME/CFIDS

symptom changes until my 2nd week on LDN. Then, I had 3 really good days in a

row; less fatigue, fewer cognitive problems, and less pain. Yay for that. I have

vivid dreams (not a huge change from before LDN), and I'm waking up between 4-6

times a night---since I'm able to fall right back to sleep though, & I'm not

overly sleepy during the day, I'm not yet sure if all that waking up is even

really a problem.

I had a lot of headaches and nausea in the beginning, until I began taking the

LDN at exactly the same time every night (I'd just been taking it before I went

to sleep, but never at the same time). Then, when I tried to push back the time

I was taking it (from 1am to 11pm), by taking it 15 minutes earlier each night,

I ended up with headaches and nausea again...so, I skipped one night's dose

(thanks to the excellent advice of someone in this group), took the next night's

at 11pm, and though the following day, my ME/CFIDS symptoms were a little worse

again, there was no headache or nausea, & I've been taking it at 11pm, ever

since.

My biggest problem with the LDN now, is that it makes me feel wired/speedy/hyper

within a half hour after I take it, which is not conducive to sleeping. It

occurred to me though, that feeling wired/speedy/hyper might actually be a plus

during the day, as long it's not too extreme. I know LDN can be taken during the

day, and I know there are people in this group who take it during the day, so

I'd like to know, how does it make you feel during the day? Does it cause any

side effects that make it difficult for you to function during the day? I'm

getting ready to start to school next week, so I'm considering trying LDN during

the day, but I wanted to check here, first, to see what the experiences of

others have been like. I have to really be on my game in school, so I want to

make sure I'm taking the LDN at a time when it will have the least negative

impact on my daytime activities. With the ME/CFIDS & allergies, school is

difficult enough, already; I don't want to make things worse.

I'm very pleased to have found this group. Thanks much for any information you

can offer....bev.
