Guest guest
Don’t know the mindset Margaret. They once again had no explanation to offer me that caused it to make sense to suppress the immune system and they just trot out what theyknow. The young doctor said he didn’t believe they would in his lifetime ever find out another way of solving autoimmune RA. I said ‘LDN?’. He had no answer . Ironically they wont provide even low dose prednisolone because of long term damage that might do, as if it is worse than the meth. Etc. Like you I can't take it on board. I'm going to read the Mercola article more thoroughly tomorrow with you in mind. There must be a reason that some people don't respond to LDN and it's scandalous that they won't do their stupid trials on it - also what is this mindset that insists on suppressing the immune system. I saw a young doctor working on the RA team under my consultant. He was at least not as pompous as the others. Bad news and Im very upset realy. Lots of disease progression in many joints and they kind of shake their heads at me. They have warned me, nicely of ongoing damage to organs like my heart etc with this much inflammation going on. He was not happy with the joints on my hands wrists knee etc. He also noticed my arms not straightening. So once more he wants me on Methotrexate and hydroxychlorine(n antimalarial drug which is often used to boost the meth. effects.). cAPS NOT DELIBERATE! Cant seem to switch them off! They don’t consider enbrel or anything like unless yo have failed on Meth and at least one other immune suppressant, Wont look at LDN until they see double blind trials on RA effectiveness. Oh Dear. I am a bit phased. I eed to go away and think what to do because it does look like I feared that the LDN is not managing to stop progression even though in many ways I am stronger healthier and fitter. Guest guest
Margaret, Im getting confused. It says here that it made no difference to CRP levels? That’s the count which for me is going way up again. AM I reading this wrongly? I have been taking bcomplex which includes 50mg of B6 daily. However, scientists from Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan said that no changes were observed for pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP), the active form of vitamin B-6, in relation to levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), another marker of inflammation. Im finding it really difficult to absorb any technical stuff to do with it all right now, possibly a reaction, maybe due to my head being completely full of my dissertation which Im finally writing and under pressure for. I need to read the article Jayne referred to in her mail yesterday too. AM thinking resveratrol…it has come up a lot recently. A thinking diet, again. AM thinking oil of oregano and/or colloidal silver in a more disciplined way because my thoat has been bad a lot too. Guest guest
Hi NualaAre you taking this 100 mg dose of Vit B6? I put the article in our Links section the other day. Do you think it was worth a try.MargaretB-6 May Improve Arthritis Measures July 2010A daily dose of vitamin B-6 at the current upper tolerable levels may reduce amounts of inflammatory compounds in people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, a new study says. Levels of the pro-inflammatory compounds interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) significantly decreased following 12 weeks of supplementation with 100 mg of vitamin B-6, according to findings published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. However, scientists from Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan said that no changes were observed for pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP), the active form of vitamin B-6, in relation to levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), another marker of inflammation. The Taiwanese scientists performed a single-blind co-intervention study with 35 participants randomly assigned to receive either 5 mg per day of only folic acid or 5 mg per day of folic acid, plus 100 mg of vitamin B-6. After 12 weeks of supplementation, significant decreases were observed in levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha only in participants of the B-6 group, the researchers said. “A large dose of vitamin B-6 supplementation (100 mg per day) suppressed pro-inflammatory cytokines (that is, IL-6 and TNF-alpha) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis,†the researchers concluded. Vitamin B-6, a water-soluble vitamin that exists as pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine is found in beans, meat, fish and some fruits and vegetables, like spinach and avocado. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 1.3 mg for men and women aged between 19 and 50.European Journal of Clinical Nutrition Published online ahead of print.________________________________From: Nuala White <nualawhite@...>rheumatoidarthritis-low dose naltrexone Cc: low dose naltrexone Sent: Sun, August 15, 2010 8:33:53 PMSubject: RE: [rheumatoidarthritis-low dose naltrexone] RE: Disease progression Don’t know the mindset Margaret.
