Further to my email below, I have been studying Dr Myhill’s

website and have found that she also believes in LDN, especially with those

suffering from MS “The Environmental Approach to Treating”:-

Low dose Naltrexone is used by a great many MS

sufferers throughout the world and seems to slow progression of the disease.

Naltrexone is a natural opiate antagonist. Its usual therapeutic dose would be

50mg and this is largely used as an antidote in a case of opiate poisoning. The

idea is to give a very tiny dose, namely 4mg at 10 o'clock at night. The idea

is to slightly inhibit endogenous opiates, which will result in a rebound

hyper-effect the next day. For further information see Low dose naltrexone. To achieve

such a small dose, take a 50mg capsule of Naltrexone (available on prescription

only) and dissolve it in 25mls of water. This produces a solution of 2mg per

ml. Keep it in the fridge. The daily dose is 2mls (i.e. 4mg) at bed time.

The link to her recommendations for dealing with MS is here http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Multiple_sclerosis_-_the_environmental_approach_to_treating

Her website holds a wealth of information for all autoimmune

disorders/cancers/children’s problems etc. For anyone interested here’s the

link to her website http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/

I know thyroid issues have been discussed a lot on these groups

and Dr Myhill does thyroid tests in the UK, providing your GP is willing to

monitor blood tests http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Thyroid_profile:_free_T3,_free_T4_and_TSH

Hope some of you find it of interest.

Subject: Yeast Problems and Candida

Some of you will remember me posting about Dr Myhill (UK)

who was faced with a GMC (General Medical Council) hearing as many GPs have

complained about her prescribing Vitamin B12 injections and her website (which

advised people against vaccines). She can still practice but is unable to

prescribe. She has written a very good article on the Candida which I

thought was very interesting and covers a lot of things being talked about in

the . As this relates to us who take LDN, I thought I would

share this. Her main interest is CFS/ME and Fibro. The article says:-

Yeast (the fungus Candida albicans) is a normal

resident of the gut, but when the ‘internal ecosystem’ gets out of balance it

causes trouble. And chances are, candida’s troublemaking potential is much

greater than you thought.

This term " candida " encompasses several processes, not all of which

all candida sufferers have problems with. Different people get well at

different levels. The idea is to tailor one's regimen so that the least input

gets the best results.

Some people will get rid of their yeast/candida problems simply by doing a low

sugar diet; others have to be much stricter with their diet and take drug or

herbal antifungals, maybe desensitization, and maybe environment controls as

well.

Yeast problems are a problem of Western lifestyles! They are triggered by: high

carbohydrate diets, antibiotics (which kill the good gut bugs and allow yeast

to flourish), ‘the Pill’ or hormone replacement therapy / HRT

(immunosuppressive), and more. It is often a combination of these factors.

Candida is also part of the fermenting gut [a factor in excess hydrogen sulfide

production that Dr. De Meirleir & Dr. Myhill propose inhibits mitochondrial

function and may underlie the fatigue in ME/CFS.] See “Fermentation

in the Gut and CFS.”

What is of interest is the section on ‘Underlying Problems’ and

‘Treatment Approaches’, here’s the link to anyone who is interested http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=15507
