Guest guest
I think going from 1 mg to 3 mg in one week is too fast. I tried to increase that quickly in the past and had problems. This time I did it more slowly and it has been very smooth. I started at 3 mg and went to 3.2 mg for 3 days, then 3.4 mg for 3 days, and so on. Try increasing in .2 mg increments every few days. > > Hi Everyone! > > I just started LDN a week ago for CFS/FM. I started out at 1mg and have worked up to 3mg. (Making my own.) Up until the 3mg, I was not having any side effects. I am now having headaches and am nauseous. They are not too terrible. Would this be the effect of the LDN being too high, or do I need time to get used to it before increasing any furthur? I've read where some stay at a dose for a couple of weeks before increasing it, or should I wait until these side effects go away? I don't think that I am dealing with candida. I take probiotics and grapefruit seed extract on a regular basis. So far, I have felt a little improvement in pain, and I am sleeping better! > > Thanks, > Penny >

Guest guest
I think that most people used to start at a therapeutic dose up until a year or so ago, when the idea came out that everybody was afraid of the " side effects " . To me, the side effects are the proof that the LDN is working, and are to be searched for in most cases. Obviously, if the " side effects " are horribly intolerable after a week at a starting dose of 3 mg, then starting a bit lower should help, but on the whole, I think that you will find that the " old timers " jumped in and saw not only some minor side effects, but also equally quick positive effects. I was in a hurry and did not want to spend months getting up to a therapeutic dose while continuing to decline with my MS, and was desperately hoping to see some improvement. I started at 3mg, jumped to 4.5 less than two weeks later, and have sort of settle at about 4mg per night for the last year+. That is the same schedule that has been used by my husband, mother, sister and assorted friends. I still recommend starting with a dose that will not only cause some side effects but, as we all hope, some improvement right away. Don't forget that drug users start in at 50mg, so 3 or 4.5 mg per night should not be shocking. Guest guest
there is also the question of what you consider a therapeutic dose. even though i had to start low at .5 and gradually work to 3, heading for 4.5 in the fall, i have to say that even the first day after my first .5, my pain was significantly decreased. but also, i am one of those " slow and steady wins the race kind of people " . if a person doesn't normally get a lot of side effects, then they should certainly jump right in, but if they are like me, they should be a bit more cautious.
