Guest guest
Hi Renelle I have had Crohn’s disease since 1995. I have tried many of the conventional meds: Sulphasaslazine, Olsalazine, Mesalazine, Entocort, Hydrocortisone, Prednisone, Azathioprine and 6-MP. I started LDN on 12 March this year. Overnight the diarrhoea stopped and the number of bowel motions reduced by half. The brain fog lifted (admittedly this may be due to coming off 6-MP rather than starting the LDN). Weight loss stopped and for a short period I gained weight, now it has stabilized. Nausea was gone by day 5 and tummy pains have more slowly decreased. I now usually only have them for a few days after each prednisone drop. I have reduced my prednisone to 7 mg and will continue to taper it. I experienced a real surge of energy in the first 3 days on LDN but then on day 4 came down with flu-like symptoms. I have since learnt this is not uncommon as the LDN stirs up candida. I am now on an anti-candida diet and this has improved things a lot. I think if you go on LDN you have to be serious about a grain-free, dairy-free, sugar-free diet. I have experimented with the timing of my LDN dose as I found the sleep disturbances too much when taken at bedtime. I now take it between midnight and 3am. I get a good night’s sleep and wake in a buoyant, positive mood. This is such a contrast to my pre-LDN days. Having battled Crohn’s for almost 15 years and suffered both the immediate and long-term effects of steroids and other meds, LDN is the best thing that has happened to me. I would strongly recommend your friend give it a go. Sorry, I can't help with Drs in Toronto; I live in New Zealand. All the best....Joan
