Guest guest
I'm using Resveratrol as a supplement with spiro. It also increases circulation and is high in antioxidants. http://www.abouthealth.co.nz/ Sue ________________________________ From: Kabrna <_Kabrna@...> hyperaldosteronism Sent: Sunday, 14 December, 2008 4:23:24 AM Subject: Alpha Lipoic acid Has anyone considered taking supplement alongisde spiro to help maintain a safe blood pressure. Research at Boston University, funded by the National Institutes of Health findings may be of interest. Quote: " The results showed that treatment with alpha lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine improved brachial artery diameter by 2.3%. It also reduced systolic blood pressure by an average of 9 points in people who started out with the highest blood pressure, and by 9 points in people with metabolic syndrome. This large reduction in blood pressure could have a major effect on people's cardiovascular risk, say researchers. Best of all: no side effects " . (McMackin, CJ, et al. Guest guest
The best is R Alpha Lipoic Acid. We have used it for years on my wife's diabetes. Dr Whitaker says the only single item he would give would be Alpha Lipoic acid. But R Alpha is a whole lot better. I get ours from I-Herb a Source Natural Mfg. Whitaker says use 400 mg. We have always used 100 mg a day From Advanced Medical site comes this for those that don't know What is R Alpha Lipoic Acid and Alpha Lipoic Acid? Alpha Lipoic acid is a natural substance found in certain foods and also produced in the human body. Alpha Lipoic acid is a disulfide compound found naturally in mitochondria as the coenzyme for pyruvate dehydrogenase and a-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a unique, vitamin-like antioxidant which exists in two forms, R-alpha-lipoic acid and S-alpha-lipoic acid. These two forms contain the same number and composition of atoms but have different arrangements of the atoms in their respective molecules. Natural lipoic acid is R Alpha lipoic acid. Synthetic lipoic acid contains a 50/50 mixture of the two forms. Studies with the mixture demonstrated beneficial effects in treating a number of diseases and conditions. More recent research has shown that the R Alpha Lipoic acid alone is far more effective than S Alpha Lipoic acid or the mixture. Recently, pure R Alpha Lipoic acid has become available as a nutritional supplement. R Alpha Lipoic Acid as an Antioxidant R Alpha Lipoic acid is regarded by many as the supreme antioxidant. R-Lipoic acid is unique in that it functions as both a fat and water-soluble antioxidant that can easily cross cell membranes. Thus, it can confer free radical protection to both interior and exterior cellular structures. Guest guest
> I have been taking one 300 mg. of Alpha Lipoic Acid, along with N-Acetyl > Cysteine. How much Alpha Lipoic Acid do you take? Do you get the impression that the ALA is making you better or worse? I've seen other groups where it is claimed that if you take ALA only once per day, it is guaranteed to make you worse, as the mercury will circulate in the bloodstream and redeposit elsewhere in the body without much of it getting out of the body. Personally, the most ALA I can stand to take is about 100mg spread over 3 days!!! (and that is 5 mg per dose, with 7 doses per day). It is said that an extreme intolerance to ALA is a symptom of extreme mercury poisoning. Marc
Guest guest
No, I don't think it is making me worse, but I don't know. It seems that I am just trying things that I read. But, I felt like I wasn't getting better. That is why I was still searching out solutions. ____________________________________________________________ Penny Stock Jumping 2000% Sign up to the #1 voted penny stock newsletter for free today! http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/4c07fd726648725115dst01duc

Guest guest
> If ALA mobilizes the toxins isn't it better to take a binding type of > detox like Activated charcoal or Bentonite Clay? Loni ALA is supposed to mobilize and bind, but yes, in any detox if you are having bad reactions, adding something to bind/neutralize those toxins can make you feel better. I tend to use H-Minus from e3Live for that, or activated charcoal, or a hot bath. :-) Marc

Guest guest
Hi Maureen,  See how you react first. I take charcoal pretty consistantly. It is prescribed by my doc for detox. the ALA will mobilize some toxins so I think it would be a good idea. Just make sure you are supplimenting with Vitamins & minerals to replace what you may lose with detox.  Loni  From: calmriver1@... <calmriver1@...> Subject: Re: alpha lipoic acid Date: Thursday, June 3, 2010, 2:14 PM  Should I not take Alpha Lipoic without making sure I use the charcoal? Guest guest
Jim, in Dr. Jon Kaiser's book "Healing HIV. How to Rebuild Your Immune System" he recommends 200 mg. 2-3x/day. I personally take it for keeping inflammation down in my skin. You can no longer tell that I have cea as long as I take it. I once had a mild case of neuropathy from taking D4t, but it went away because I stopped the D4T immediately after noticing the symptoms. I've been taking alpha lipoic acid for years and it may have had a hand in curing it, but it is hard to tell. Jon Kaiser also recommends Calcium 500 mg. 2x/day, Magnesium 250 mg. 2x/day and Vitamin B6 100 mg. 2x/day for preventing and treating it. He also says massage and acupuncture can help too. Best Wishes, "I'm interested in anyone's experience with it. Has it helped? What dosage is recommended? And where's the most cost-effective place to buy it?"
