Crushed Tablets - why not?

Why should you not crush the tablets (I assume you should dissolve them instead?) How do compounding pharmacies do it? Do they order Naltrexone in powder form? If you water dilute, is it okay to cut the tablet along the score line (I assume it is)? Are there problems if you cut it NOT across the score line (I did this for the last 25 mg and I think I got some problems)Jim
