Guest guest
Has it never occurred to him that "true scientific" publications don't want to know as it will spoil big Pharma's profits...... Pity he does not see the wood for the trees. Go for buying LDN online and mixing your own like many do............. Celia ..
Guest guest
This exactly why we need the science. Some doctors, a sad majority, are either too brainwashed to open their minds, or too arrogant to admit they don't know everything,or both!JackieFrom: christeline1 <christeline1@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Email from my dad's oncologistlow dose naltrexone Date: Friday, June 11, 2010, 2:55 PMI have been trying to get my dad on LDN for six months without any luck. My sister emailed some LDN info to him and this was the doctor's response."Thanks. It seems to me that they have made much more effort to appear in lay press than have true scientific publications. The rationale, testing and claims are very weak. Also, it is counterintuitive that one agent could be useful for multiple diseases with very different mechanisms of action (viral infections like HIV, autoimmune diseases, cancer… does it work to grow hair also?). Guest guest
It seems willfully blind for a doctor to essentially claim that HIV, autoimmune diseases, and cancer all have nothing to do with immune system dysfunction, and therefore could not all benefit from a treatment that regulates the immune system. But there are none so blind as those who will not see. Unfortunately, this attitude doesn't seem to be uncommon in the medical community.BTW, for those with alopecia areata, it seems to me possible that LDN *could* work to grow hair. I'm just saying...~EileenOn Jun 11, 2010, at 2:55 PM, christeline1 wrote: I have been trying to get my dad on LDN for six months without any luck. Guest guest
If I were in this situation I would just get the LDN myself and do it. However, if her father won't do it unless the doctor says ok, then he's stuck and making his choices. My mother has COPD and is a cancer survivor, but will not listen to a word I say about LDN, so I understand how frustrating it is. -- At 03:18 PM 6/11/2010, you wrote: >Has it never occurred to him that " true scientific " publications don't >want to know as it will spoil big Pharma's profits...... Guest guest
there are a bunch of credible peer review journal articles... they just have to be put under his nose, or at least a list of refs to them that it's up to him to look up and read. ________________________________ From: low dose naltrexone [mailto:low dose naltrexone ] On Behalf Of Celia Sent: Friday, June 11, 2010 4:19 PM christeline1; low dose naltrexone Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Email from my dad's oncologist Has it never occurred to him that " true scientific " publications don't want to know as it will spoil big Pharma's profits...... Guest guest
I would totally find a way to get LDN on my own and try it if I were in your dad's situation. I just found this article on a compounding pharmacy's website, very good synopsis. There really doesn't seem to be any risk. I think the oncologist is just worried about liability. My rheumatologist says the same thing. He knows I am on LDN but has to tow the party line and say he is against it. Meanwhile, every 6 months I see him and continually report NO symptoms. Maybe some day he'll come around along with the other mainstream docs: http://www.compoundingdocs.com/Low_Dose_Naltrexone.html > > there are a bunch of credible peer review journal articles... they just have > to be put under his nose, or at least a list of refs to them that it's up to > him to look up and read. > > > ________________________________ > > From: low dose naltrexone > [mailto:low dose naltrexone ] On Behalf Of Celia > Sent: Friday, June 11, 2010 4:19 PM > christeline1; low dose naltrexone > Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Email from my dad's oncologist > > > > > Has it never occurred to him that " true scientific " publications > don't want to know as it will spoil big Pharma's profits...... Guest guest
Let us know where you are and maybe someone could recommend a Dr. that will prescribe it.From: marlaprendergast <kws11@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Email from my dad's oncologistlow dose naltrexone Date: Friday, June 11, 2010, 10:54 PM I would totally find a way to get LDN on my own and try it if I were in your dad's situation. Guest guest
you know the old saying: you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink! I find I only discuss matters like LDN with people who are open minded, and some people are open minded and still don't want an alternate answer with this... so I mention it and if it goes on deaf ears, then thats all you can do...its sad when its someone close you love, but we can only control what WE do......and we all have our journey in life and maybe thats there path now.... Guest guest
I visited my GP yesterday for other reasons and as a “by the way I am taking LDN” – he said he knew and also he knows of many who are taking LDN. So I asked the question which was ‘having been on LDN for 18 months and everything is calm, I’ve had no flare ups, would he prescribe it to me”? His response was ‘NO’. He’s looked at every trial going and all peer reviews etc., but as a GP he needs to watch his back so unless the Govt gives the ‘OK’ it’s a ‘No’ from him. He said all he’s seen is very small trials which to be honest people may be better off taking nothing than the DMDs or CRABB drugs. To be honest I agree with him and I’d like to see more research being done into LDN. I told him about our campaign and fortunately my MP is a Whip of the Department of Health who has supported us from the beginning and I told him how we got Dr on board (UK TV Celebrity Dr) etc. He said he’d love to prescribe LDN but as a practising GP on the NHS he can’t unless it turns up in his little black or green/orange book. I left him our leaflet http://www.ldnnow.net/documents/LDNNowleaflet.pdf and am contacting all GP practices to support our petition to the House of Commons http://forum.ldnresearchtrust.org/index.php?/topic/1655-ldn-petition-to-the-house-of-commons/ Again, if those reading this who reside in the UK, please help. We need the MPs supporting this petition. Thank you. Jayne Crocker www.LDNNow.com Important!
