Guest guest
Hi Virginia I haven't any experience of taking immunivir with LDN but have tried Immunivir in the past before LDN twice and wondered if my experience may be of help to you? When I first became ill at the age of 21 with CFS I was competing in Europe as a road cyclist. I became ill and flew home after which I was diagnosed with over over training syndrome and reactivation of Epstein Barr virus and was told to rest. I never recovered and was unable to return to training and competition. 6 months later under the guidance of a doctor with an interest in sports medicine I began taking Immunivir. Initially I had a great response and felt an increase in energy and a reduction in flu symptoms, sore throat and swollen glands. Sadly this only lasted a couple of months and my symptoms returned with full force after attempting to train again. A few years later I revisited Immunivir after learning that the body can become accustomed to the drug and stops working and that a 'pulsing dose as recommended by Dr Cheney was more effective' (different doses on different days and having breaks in doses). Disappointingly the drug had no effect this time and so I stopped taking immunivir. My conclusion was that while the Epstein Barr was active Immunivir was effective in reducing the viral load and subsequently reducing symptoms or that Immunivir altered my immunological response and activity which resulted in reduced symptoms. As I understand things, Immunivir is not only effective at targeting certain viruses, it also acts as an Immune modulator and so may be helpful in patients with CFS. Following the Cheney protocol was not only costly, but rather difficult to follow and for me did not result in a reduction of symptoms. I have no idea how you will respond to taking immunivir and LDN together, they could work synergistically or antagonise each other. My suggestion would be to seek advice from an immunologist with experience of using both these drugs. Perhaps Dr Skip (Pharmacologist I believe) or Dr Zagon could help you with this. You would need a very clear understanding of how both drugs work and how they may interact. My information may not help but thought it may be worth while sharing my experience. Good luck Virginia le CFS/FMS 17 years LDN liquid 1.5 ml x 12 nights (very vivid dreams, increase in pain night and day, very sleepy, coming out in lots of spots on face, no other side effects, still keeping fingers n toes crossed for reduction in pain, I can live with the fatigue!)
