Guest guest
Rose, Check our Dr. G Harch's book "The Oxygen Revolution". There is a protocol for MS (which is variable for each patient - so much for the "one size fits all - one size fits none" attitude in America). On page 127, he discusses ALS. He calls ALS the "the Pseudo-Companion of MS" in 2004, a research published positive results for the use of HBOT for ASL - he is now planning a larger study. Dr. Harch notes that no one really knows how HBOT works in ALS. It will shut down inflammation, as well as modulate the immune system, enhancing resistance to disease (on patient who was treated for brain injury *did not have a flu, cold, or even a cough for 16 years after his treatment*. I was under the impression that ALS, like MS, is an autoimmune attack on the motor neurons. LDN is shown to stop or slow many if not all autoimmune diseases, and HBOT has still-unknown, but positive effects on the immune system, and MS which may be similar. The citation for the study in 2004 is: Steel J. et al, "A Phase I study of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for [ALS]" (PMID 15799556). There is a comment by the same research team in 2007 (PMID 17852024) reporting negative results in a Phase II (small scale efficacy) trial for ALS, but this may mean that it simply depends on the person, maybe the length of diagnosis and amount of deterioration - although HBOT also raises Nerve Growth Factor, as well as Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), which is also though to have some effect on nerve growth/regeneration.JimFrom: ROSA CANEZARO <rosacanezaro@...>Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Crushed Tablets - why not?"carcinoidwarrior" <carcinoidwarrior@...>Date: Saturday, June 5, 2010, 11:42 AMI have ALS , please tell me how were you able to get this wonderful medication. is there a web site? Please, I do not want to die.
