Your questions could be answered " yes " -- depending on the person. For me, 7 mg of prednisone was about the maximum I could tolerate, so it was not a low dose in terms of its effects. Therefore, it also would have effected my LDN -- though I didn't take prednisone and LDN at the same time. I don't know about prednisone reducing the effectiveness of LDN, but I suspect it would. For me, LDN is plenty effective on its own. Guest guest
Thanks Zahavi. I value your wisdom and have learnt alot from you through these groups. Thank you. So you don't think there is any conflict between prednisone at 7mg and LDN? I have always thought I should do all I can to get off it. Has your wife tried to lower her prednisone? Maybe I just need to accept that this is as good as it will get. Thanks again for all your help....Joan > > Dr mccandless is against taking more then 10 mg prednisone.my wife takes > years 7.5 mg prednisone with the ldn plus good diet plus 3x500 > D-phenylalanine and try to avoid stress and it Works good for AS. >
Guest guest
The use of 7 mg predinsone with ldn is no problem as advised by dr mccandless. My wife uses perdnisone already 20 years .first 5 mg because she did not tolerate nsaids and later 7.5 mg because adrenal fatigue. If you used prednisone for a long time you might have to continue to takei t as your adrenal are exhausted, a doctor that Works with bio-identical hormones can check it.hydro-cortisone is beter.for every mg prednisone you need 4 mg HC and spread over the day.my wife does not tolerate it. To compensate for the damage of prednisone a woman should use DHEA,at least 15 mg if you can tolerate even more. You should check also thyroid as he suffers after a long time adrenal fatigue. Guest guest
Thanks for that reassurance Zahavi.Yes, I am on thyroid extract and DHEA; also biest, progesterone and melatonin. Now that I have reduced the prednisone I should get the levels of these checked again. I have been on hydrocortisone in the past. The only reason I switched to prednisone was that the HC didn't have strong enough anti-inflammatory effect. Maybe the LDN will allow me to switch back to HC but in the meantime I'll stay on 7mg pred until the Crohn's fully settles down again. Thanks again for your advice. I really appreciate it.
